Holiday Transfers Services
We find that it is very often the case that a car hire works out less expensive than a pre booked taxi or coach transfer. Below you will find details of both taxi transfers and a comparative car hire booking engine that will check many car hire companies with one search. This will allow you to check the best price option for your journey.
Compare the Cheapest Car Hire Deals Online
We have spent time searching the internet for the best companies providing airport transfer by coach, taxis, shuttle, mini bus services and below are the three which we feel offer the most competitive and cheap prices and all round professional service.
Resort Hoppa:
Resort Hoppa offer very competitive private transfers which can accommodate extremely large groups; even up to 55 people on a coach. Resort Hoppa rates are based on the size of vehicle used. For example they will charge the same rate if your group is 2 or 4 persons as the car used to accommodate you will be the same vehicle.
They definitely represent the cheapest options if you are travelling in a suitably sized group; so check their booking engine to see if your party could save money. You might find them less competitive if you are travelling as a couple.
Holiday Taxis:
Holiday taxis offer a similar service to Resort Hoppa, their prices are based on the type of vehicle which is used. Again it depends on the size of your group as to how much money you may save; take a look at their booking system to see how you fare. They also offer a premier service for any one who wishes to travel in luxury. Holiday Taxis are also taking a ‘greener’ stance regarding vehicle emissions; this allows you to off set your carbon footprint for a small fee.
Menorca’s capital is called Mahon which is steeped in history with plenty history and museums showing the wonderful history. One of the main shopping streets Carrere de Orfilda, most of the streets in Menorca are pedestrian only as they are so small and rickety.
Placa de Constituco is the street which holds the church of Santa Maria which was built in the 13th century but was knocked down and then again built in the 18th century during the time when the British ruled the island. Leading away from the Cathedral is the best view of Mahon and the best view of the whole island.
Ahead of that is the remains of the old city walls which were built to protect Mahon from the pirates Barbarossa (red beard). Dotted around the capital there are lots of Catholic churches and a large gothic cathedral which is built on the site of an old mosque.
Menorca is famous for its fashion shoe making and gin making, introduced by the British Xoriguer distillery on Mahon quayside which has a guided tour and has bottles available to buy. The Rubrica show factory in Ferreies is a popular place with the locals, there is a great choice of designer and fashion shoes to buy at cut prices.
Menorca is a birdwatchers paradise, to the north of Mahon there is a nature reserve full of exotic animals specializing in birds. Menorca has a few riding stables with guided tours of the island. There is no better way to see it than on a horse! Beginners and experienced riders can be catered for.
Off the beaten track there are some good walking paths, Menorca has some lovely small beaches and unspoilt bays edged with pine trees. An example of one is Son Saura.
Menorca came under Muslim rule in the 13th century, they invaded the island and made Citaudella the capital. In the 16th century Barbary pirates attacked Citaudella and Mahon leaving both cities in ruins, in 1973 Menorca was conquered by the British who built British houses and roads and left a British ‘stamp’ on the island. Menorca was finally restored by Spain at the beginning of the 19th century. |
