The Museo de Cadiz was originally a palace built in the 1900’s, it houses the fine arts from the Spanish School of Painters, such as Ribera, Murillo and the famous Zurbaran.
Cadiz has many interesting places for the visitor to explore the Plaza San Juan de Dios, it is the liveliest part of the city. The Plaza Fallas has concerts and shows throughout the winter months.
Carnival has the most amazing carnival during the week leading up to Easter, tourists from all over Spain come to the city to join in the celebrations, if you are interested in visiting during that time make sure you book early. Cadiz has very good shopping and certain products are extremely cheap. These products are ceramics and wicker ware.
There are beautiful sandy beaches that stretch right around the city, some of the most beautiful views are from the beaches. As the city is on the Atlantic sea it is quite rough and perfect for water sports like windsurfing and jet skiing, it is said to be the best place to do water sports. Cadiz has many yacht clubs and marinas with dozens of regattas throughout the year with information from the tourist office in town.
Cadiz has a very good restaurant selection with lots of seafood dishes and meat dishes. The main meat dish in Cadiz is Venison in blue cheese. Hams hang from many of the restaurant ceilings this enables them to age.
Cadiz does not have its own airport but there is one very close, it is Seville’s San Pablo Airport. There are plenty of Trains from the airport to the centre of Cadiz. Hiring a car is also very easy in Cadiz.
