Enjoy the Volvo Masters in sunny Spain
Kicking off on October 30th, the Valderrama Volvo Masters is an unmissable event for golf enthusiasts.

According to events website whatsonwhen.com, the final part of the PGA European Tour is the ideal opportunity to "witness the talents of Europe's best on a beautiful Spanish course".

The top ten players in the tournament are automatically selected to form the European Ryder Cup team, so the PGA grand finale promises to be an exciting event.

Ryanair voted 'least favourite airline'
Budget carrier Ryanair has been voted as the least favourite airline of British travellers.

In a survey carried out by online travel community TripAdvisor, 30 per cent of British holidaymakers said that Ryanair was their least favourite airline.

This is the third year in a row that the budget carrier has been voted as Britain's least favourite.

Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Emirates were named as Britain's favourite airlines, with holidaymakers praising their helpful staff, comfortable seats and punctuality.

Travel insurance is 'essential' for holidays in Spain
Those taking holidays in Spain this winter should ensure they purchase a travel insurance policy before flying.

Speaking today (October 23rd), Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, said that taking travel insurance on holiday was as important as taking a suitcase.

For very little money travellers can buy a policy covering cancellation, lost baggage and medical costs, he said.

According to a recent study by American Express, one in four people travel abroad without insurance.

Straw donkey tops list of 'bad' holiday buys
Holidaymakers planning to surprise their loved-ones with a souvenir straw donkey may wish to think again, after they topped a list of "most regrettable" holiday purchases.

Research carried out by Tesco Finance found that people often get caught up in the holiday spirit and end up making bad choices when it comes to souvenir gifts.

Of those surveyed, 40 per cent said they have regretted gift choices in the past, with a quarter of people admitting that they often bin unwanted items when they get home.

However, it isn't all doom and gloom on the souvenir front, with 14 per cent of people donating goods to charity and three per cent of people selling off their holiday nick-nacks online.

'Jazz things up' on holiday in Spain
Those taking holidays in Spain will have the opportunity to jazz things up a little next month, when the Malaga International Jazz Festival takes place.

Kicking off on November 10th, the week-long festival takes place at the Teatro Cervantes of Malaga and promises to be a hugely entertaining event.

Some of the stars performing at this year's festival include Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Richard Galliano quartet, Lizz Wright, Avishai Cohen and Steve Winwood, Euro Weekly reports.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, with discounts available for those who want to attend on more than one night.

Holidays in Spain 'will remain popular'
British travellers will continue to take holidays in Spain, despite the credit crunch, it has been claimed.

Addressing the United Federation of Travel Agents' Association, Francesco Frangialli, secretary-general of the UN World Tourism Organisation, said that demand for holidays would remain strong, despite the economic doom and gloom.

"Experience teaches us that tourism is resilient … The need to go on trips, to take holidays, is too strong in our post-industrial societies," he explained.

Mr Frandialli said that instead of cutting back on travel, people were changing their habits in order to make savings.

'Top tips' for half-term holidays in Spain
Families taking holidays in Spain over half-term can beat the credit crunch by following a series of money saving tips.

According to Tesco Personal Finance, savvy travellers can cut hundreds off the cost of their holidays in Spain by spending some time planning beforehand.

Holidaymakers can save money by arranging airport transfers in advance and shopping around online for the best deals.

Other tips include buying pre-paid calling cards and changing currency before travelling, as exchange rates in airports can often be unfavourable.

Majority of holidaymakers plan to travel again in 2009
The majority of British holidaymakers plan to travel overseas again over the coming year.

Research carried out by the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) found that 83 per cent of holidaymakers are eager to take another holiday in the next 12 months.

Furthermore, of those surveyed, 47 per cent of people said they would not let their travel plans be affected by the current economic crisis.

Almost a third of respondents took three or more holidays in the last year, with the majority of people taking week-long breaks.

Flights to Spain 'prove popular'
Almost one million passengers passed through Alicante Airport during the month of September, official figures have revealed.

According to airport operator Aena, Alicante is now Spain's fifth-busiest airport, jumping ahead of the likes of Tenerife and Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.

Over the last nine months the airport has handled in excess of 7.6 million passengers, indicating that the demand for holidays in Spain is as high as ever.

Torre del Mar voted 'top destination'
One of the Costa del Sol's coastal resorts has made it on to the TripAdvisor TraveCast Top ten World Destinations for 2009 list.

Torre del Mar – which is located in the Axarquia region – was named as the sixth best destination in the world.

The town once formed part of an ancient Greek settlement and today attracts tourists with its white sandy beaches and stunning scenery.

Torre del Mar is within travelling distance for those hiring a car at La Manga and is the ideal place to visit for a spot of lunch and an afternoon stroll.
