The mother and her 11-year-old son were enjoying a family holiday in Murcia with a hike in the Estrecho de San Gines region when they decided to take different routes before meeting at the bottom.

After the boy failed to materialise, emergency services were contacted and a search stretching to nearby luxury Spanish resort La Manga Club was put into action.

Insurance for Spanish holidays ' is as important as your suitcase' 23rd November 2007
Holidaymakers looking to jet off overseas this Christmas for luxury holidays in Spain have been reminded that travel insurance is not an optional extra.

The British Insurance Brokers Association (Biba) has claimed that while travel insurance is always vital, it is even more important for travellers going on adventure holidays.

Graeme Trudgill technical and corporate affairs executive of Biba added that medical costs can reach £20,000 for holidaymakers who get injured on holiday without insurance.

"We would say that travel insurance is as important as your suitcase…the costs are enormous if you go abroad and you have a medical injury," he added.

Luxury holidays in Spain from start to finish 23rd November 2007
Hard-working Brits looking to escape to holiday villas in Spain will surely want to start their Spanish holidays as they mean to go on - in comfort and style.

As such, holidaymakers waiting to board their flights to Murcia from BAA Gatwick can now choose to head away from the crowds in the main departure lounge and relax in the new executive Aviance Lounge.

A refitting of lights, toilet, ceilings and furniture sees the Aviance Lounge updated with a bar and coffee area for passengers to get into the mindset of their luxury holidays in Spain.

"[Executive lounges] are a great alternative to the main airport departure lounge for passengers who simply want to relax or work prior to boarding a flight," commented Arthur Dodgson, chief executive officer of Go-Ahead Aviation Division.

Visitors to the La Manga Club Resort can discover the submerged secrets of the coast with Adventure Divers, a dive centre in the La Manga village of Las Lomas.

Growth of regional airports offering flights to Spain 22nd November 2007
There has been a growth in the number of people heading out on Spanish holidays from regional UK airports, it has been reported.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a main factor behind this growth has been the expansion of low-cost carriers.

Recent CAA figures show that the number of annual passengers travelling through UK regional airports has surpassed 100 million - roughly three times the amount that flew from regional airports in 1990.

"One of the main factors is that the London airports are becoming increasingly busy and as a result of that, more services are being offered from the regional airports," commented Chris Mason, spokesperson for the CAA.
