Holidaymakers who take a good quality travel guide with them on their flights to Spain can "improve" their holiday, it has been reported.
According to Andy Riddle, managing director of the travel guide publishers Footprint, well-written travel guides produced by dedicated authors and publishers can make the difference on a holiday in Spain or elsewhere.
Mr Riddle added that when the writer "really knows the country" guidebooks can be a "shortcut" to opportunities that might in other circumstances be overlooked.
A travel guide market research report published by professional travel photographer Jim Batty in April 2006 found that the most likely person in the UK to buy a travel guide is a professional and busy Londoner aged between 25 and 34 years old.
Britons taking flights to Alicante this May bank holiday will find that their visit coincides with a performance by German band Scorpions.
The heavy metal band are due to begin the Spanish leg of their world tour in Madrid on May 7th and will perform in Alicante on May 9th 2008.
The group is then scheduled to play in Almeria on May 10th.
Scorpions are a group that date back more than 30 years and have accrued a number of hits and band members during their tenure.
