Advice for over-55s on Spanish holidays 08th May 2008
Older customers planning their Spanish holiday adventure this summer may want to take heed of new advice regarding insurance.

The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) is warning over-55s not to go on holiday without sufficient insurance to cover the activities they will be undertaking while on their Spanish holiday, following revealing research.

Spokesperson for Abta Sean Tipton comments: "The present generation do not like to think that they are part of a certain age where they have to be cliched or go on old-style holidays."

He added that many people in the age group are willing to risk travelling without insurance because they believe pre-existing medical conditions will lead to a higher premium.

Regular visitors to Spain advised to book annual insurance 08th May 2008
Frequent flyers - which may include those heading on tennis holidays in Spain - have been advised to take out an annual policy by a leading representative body.

The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) believe those who regularly take advantage of last minute Spanish holiday deals may want to consider a yearly policy to avoid forgetting to book insurance in the rush excitement of a next-day bargain.

Spokesperson for Abta Sean Tipton comments: "If you take more than two trips a year anyway then it is very sensible to do that [take out annual insurance] because you’ll get the benefits of it straightaway."

He added that the currently competitive insurance market in the UK means Spanish holiday seekers can expect even greater savings from an annual policy.
