Ryanair 'to sell newspapers on board'

Britons taking flights to Spain in the near future may be interested to learn that budget airline Ryanair is to start selling newspapers on board flights from London Stansted.

Copies of the Independent and Independent on Sunday will be available for £1, with the carrier planning to extend the scheme to other airports if it proves successful.

Ryanair spokesperson Sinead Finn said she expects the initiative to be a success with passengers.

Some of the destinations currently served by the airline include Alicante, Murcia, Malaga, Barcelona and Madrid.

Millions of Brits 'taking Easter holidays abroad'

Around two million people will be jetting off on holidays to Spain and other popular destinations over Easter weekend.

According to ABTA - The Travel Association, Heathrow Airport is set to be the country's busiest transport hub, with around 575,000 travellers due to pass through between April 1st and April 6th.

Elsewhere, Manchester Airport expects to handle approximately 141,000 people, while 15,000 will depart from Southampton.

"Easter is the traditional curtain raiser to the summer and I am delighted to see that hundreds of thousands of our customers are taking the opportunity to take a well earned break both here in the UK and overseas," said ABTA chairman John McEwan.
