 Holidaymakers who were planning to escape the eurozone in order to save money this year may wish to reconsider.
According to the latest Post Office Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer, rising costs in Turkey mean that a holidays in Spain is now a much cheaper.
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the organisation, commented: "For 2010 our shopping basket of eight tourist staples indicates that Turkey is now 68 per cent more expensive than Spain."
She claimed the eurozone is now "striking back" after many resorts suffered during 2009.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Donald Stracham noted that modern technology is increasingly making it cheaper to communicate with friends and family while abroad.

Thomson Airways 'launches more flights to Spain' |

 People planning to book flights to Spain now have more options than ever open to them.
Low-cost carrier Thomson Airways has announced plans to introduce more services between Durham Tees Valley Airport and Alicante, the Northern Echo reports.
New flights will also be launched connecting the north-east to Sharm el-Sheikh and Tenerife.
Emma Ormerod, a spokesperson for the airport, said the news is an endorsement of the newlook twin terminal scheme that was announced by the hub last week.
