Top tips 'for credit crunch travel |

 The pound may have dropped in value against the euro in recent months, but that does not mean Spain is off the agenda for holidaymakers.
With the availability of cheap flights from budget airlines such as Ryanair and Jet2, a holiday in Spain may still work out much cheaper than going elsewhere.
Furthermore, Sue Ockwell, a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, says holidaymakers can make big savings with a little careful planning.
One of Ms Ockwell's top tips is to book a few off-peak "strategic" short breaks throughout the year, which can "help you recharge the batteries and give you something to look forward to without breaking the bank".

March events at La Manga Club |

 Those holidaying at La Manga Club next month will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the range of activities on offer.
There is a packed calendar of events, with something available for everyone.
A Wine Club evening takes place every third Thursday at La Bodega and guests will find plenty of delicious food and drink to sample, with selected wines available at bargain prices.
Guests will also find offers on spa treatments throughout the month of March and two for one massages and facials are available at certain times.

Late bookings 'on the increase' |

 There has been a surge in the number of Brits booking their holidays to Spain and other destinations in advance, it has been claimed.
According to travel firm InsureandGo, holidaymakers are taking advantage of cheap deals and snapping up last minute bargains.
Research by the company found that the average time between purchasing a travel insurance policy and departing for a holiday has decreased by 26 per cent in the last two years, suggesting that people are now more inclined to travel on the spare of the moment.
Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, said that people were making the most of the competition on the high street.

Millions of Brits plan to 'axe travel insurance' |

 British holidaymakers have been warned not to put themselves and their families at risk by travelling without insurance.
The warning comes after a poll by insurance firm Liverpool Victoria revealed that five million Britons are planning to cancel at least one policy.
However, those taking holidays to Spain and other destinations have been urged not to cut travel insurance. The cost of an air ambulance back to the UK could be as much as £16,000 and those without cover will have to meet the costs themselves.

Holidaymakers 'warned over scams' |

 Those taking holidays to Spain and other destinations have been urged to report any scams they come across.
Research carried out by insurance firm Liverpool Victoria, in conjunction with YouGov, has revealed that one-fifth of Brits have been the victims of scams and holiday fraudsters over the past five years.
Further results show that the average cost to victims of scams is £250.
Emma Holyer, a spokesperson for the organisation, said that there is clearly an industry is based on ripping innocent people off.

Ryanair to axe check-in desks |

 Those taking flights to Spain this year may be interested to learn that budget airline Ryanair has announced plans to close all of its check-in desks.
With the majority of passengers now checking in online, the airline said it will shut its check-in desks by the end of the year.
Speaking to the Telegraph, the airline's chief executive Michael O'Leary said: "All we will have is a bag drop where passengers can drop off their luggage, otherwise everything will be done online."
However, the airline will still have employees at its airport ticket desks.

Book your holiday in Spain early 'for a great deal' |

 Those looking to secure a good deal on their next holiday to Spain should book early, it has been suggested.
Writing on Aito.com, the website for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, spokesperson Sue Ockwell suggested that booking a last-minute deal does not necessarily mean you will get a bargain.
Often those who book late are left with limited choices and may not get the dates and accommodation that they want.

Irish 'love' holidays in Spain |

 The number of Brits heading overseas may have dropped slightly this year, but the Irish are making up for it, it has been revealed.
Figures released by Malaga Airport last week show that the number of Irish travellers taking holidays in Spain is on the rise.
The number of Irish holidaymakers arriving during the month of January was up 7.2 per cent on the previous year, with 13,288 arrivals, Typically Spanish reports.

EasyJet to work with Alzheimer's Society |

 Budget airline easyJet has chosen the Alzheimer's Society as its new charity partner.
The carrier, which offers regular flights to Spain, will sell scratch cards and carry out onboard collections to help raise money for the charity.
According to easyJet, talks are already being held on how the airline and charity can work together to reach their targets and generate even more cash for those in need.
Andy Harrison, chief executive of easyJet, said he was sure that the airline's passengers would support this worthy cause.
