Brits 'opting for ten-day holidays in Spain'
An increasing number of people are choosing to take ten-day holidays to Spain rather than two-week breaks, it has been suggested.

Sally Kirby, travel specialist at Black Tomato, said lots of Brits are opting for trips of this length as they can jet off without spending too much time away from the office.

She noted that a ten-day trip only requires five or six days off work and can be more manageable than holidaying for two weeks.

"As in exit the UK on Friday night and then fly back the following weekend Sunday night and straight into the office if they are really short on annual leave days," Ms Kirby explained.

All-inclusive holidays 'set to prove popular in 2010'
All-inclusive holidays to Spain and other destinations are likely to prove popular in 2010, it has been claimed.

According to travel providers Thomson and First Choice, bookings for breaks that include flights, accommodation and food have risen by 32 per cent in the last five years, with holidaymakers increasingly keen to stretch their money further.

"Their success has a lot to do with the decline in value of the pound against the euro, making self-catering in short-haul destinations relatively expensive," they noted.

All-inclusive breaks are also proving popular as many resorts have "become a lot more sophisticated in the last few years".

Flying with a budget airline 'could be a false economy'
The cost of a budget flight to Spain can increase significantly when baggage charges and credit card fees are factored in, it has been revealed.

Figures compiled by consumer publication Which? Holiday found that additional fees can increase the cost of a ticket by up to 30 per cent.

The publication noted that the price of a flight to Malaga rose by 23 per cent when one piece of luggage was checked in and the booking was made on a credit card.

Rochelle Turner, head of research at the publication, commented: "It's hard to believe that any airline could justify increasing the ticket price by almost a third just for checking a bag into the hold and paying on a credit card - two services that not too long ago were included in the headline price.
