The timing of the forthcoming British Airways' cabin crew strikes is surprising and disappointing.

This is according to John Tangney, chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators aviation committee, who said that the action could be a "disaster" for families who are taking holidays to Spain and other destinations over the festive period.

"The problem now will be that very, very few seats will be left on other carriers over [the] Christmas period. The seats that are left will be in the premium cabins I would have thought," he explained.
