Brits snap up bargain flights to Spain
Budget carrier bmibaby has reported a surge in the number of Brits booking last-minute flights to Spain and other popular destinations.

The airline has slashed its prices on a number of routes from Manchester, Birmingham International and Cardiff International, with flights to Malaga available from just £24.99 including taxes and charges.

Since the start of the sale, traffic to the website has increased by 150 per cent, with bookings up 40 per cent, suggesting that despite the credit crunch, people are still eager to escape the UK.

Brits choose 'classic holidays'

British holidaymakers are more likely to opt for "classic" trips to sunny destinations such as Spain, than take frequent city breaks, it has been claimed.

According to responsibletravel.com, as the downturn tightens its grip, holidaymakers will be forced to prioritise where travel is concerned.

Justin Francis, the company's managing director, commented: "Those that can afford additional breaks will explore much closer to home, particularly as the pound drops in value against the Euro - allowing them to save up the pennies and the annual leave for a longer annual holiday which will come in the form of classic, special travel experiences - those unforgettable once in a lifetime trips.

January sales start early in Spain
Britons on holidays in Spain will be able to snap up January bargains earlier than normal this year.

Sales in the Andalucia region are starting on January 2nd this year, with many stores promising major discounts.

Shops in Spain usually begin their sales after the Day of the Three Kings; however, in order to boost sales stores are slashing their prices earlier, Typically Spanish reports.

The move has been welcomed by the region's councillor for tourism and trade Luciano Alonso, who thinks the measure will draw more people into the shops.

Avoid money mishaps on holiday in Spain
Britons taking holidays in Spain can save hundreds of pounds by choosing the right credit card, it has been claimed.

According to Moneysupermarket, holidaymakers are] creating unnecessary stress for themselves by failing to notify their banks when they travel abroad.

Research carried out by the organisation revealed that one in nine people have had problems with using their cards and withdrawing cash when on holiday.

Just 31 per cent of people who travelled abroad this year informed their debit or credit card provider.

With the gloomy British weather to contend with, it is little wonder that millions of people are planning to travel abroad over the festive season.

In a recent survey by travel firm Kayak, 43 per cent of Britons said they are planning to take holidays in Spain and other good-value destinations this winter.

Despite the economic downturn, it seems that people can't wait to escape, with 63 per cent of respondents planning to set off on their festive travels on December 22nd.

Almost half of people are travelling by car, with around a quarter of holidaymakers planning to journey by plane.

La Manga Club to welcome female gold champions
Holidaymakers staying at La Manga Club in January may notice some famous faces from the world of sport.

The resort is preparing to host the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School this January, from the 5th to the 16th.

Covered by Sky Sports, the event will see 160 top female golfers compete for the 30 places available in the 2009 Ladies European Tour.

Furthermore, amateurs who want to try their hand against the professionals can sign up for the Pro-Am competition, which kicks off on January 12th.

Brits refuse to give up holidays to La Manga Club
The majority of British holidaymakers are unlikely to let a recession get in the way of their holiday plans, according to a new poll.

Online news agency Adfero questioned members of the public and discovered that 80 per cent believe the economic downturn will have no effect on their plains to take holidays to Spain and elsewhere.

One place where holidaymakers are sure to get plenty for their pound is La Manga Club.

As well as top class golf and tennis facilities, the resort has a range of restaurants and spa treatments, meaning a holiday can be as active or as relaxing as one chooses.

Andalucia named as best established golf destination
The region of Andalucia has been named as the best established golf destination in the latest IAGTO awards.

IAGTO, the body which represents the golf tourism industry, revealed that the region had won the award at a ceremony at the Estepona Congress and Exhibition Centre in Spain.

Those who have enjoyed golf holidays to La Manga Club will testify as to how good the region's golf courses are, but it is recognition by the government that has helped the area to its current level of prestige, according to Manuel Macias, marketing director at Turismo Andaluz.

"We now have laws regarding the construction of golf courses, underlining quality and environmental care.
