Brits taking holidays in Spain over the festive season have been offered some tips on how to ensure their break goes without a hitch.

Sean Tipton, a spokesman for Abta - The Travel Association, said travellers should leave themselves plenty of time to get to the airport as they are likely to be extremely busy at this time of year.

He noted that around three million people will be heading abroad over the coming weeks.

"If you miss your flight because you haven't left enough time that's a major problem as well but that's not covered by insurance, so leave an extra hour or so to get there," Mr Tipton commented.
