Improvements planned for Costa Del Sol

Plans have been put forward to improve areas of Spain's Costa Del Sol, it has been reported.

According to Typically Spanish, the resort - which is a popular destination for Britons on holidays in Spain - is to see an investment of almost €11 million in a bid to improve tourism to the region.

An agreement was signed recently by mayors from the Costa Del Sol resorts of Torremolinos, Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Mijas, Manilva and Casares and the Junta de Andalucia.

La Manga Club is more than just a luxury holiday resort in Spain, it is also home to some of the foremost sporting facilities in Europe.

In addition to being the training ground for many UK football teams and having in the past hosted such tennis events as the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, La Manga Club regularly hosts a series of celebrity golf events.

Spurs players on training holidays in Spain

While footballer Steven Gerrard's wife recently relaxed at a luxury holiday resort in Spain, the players of her husband's rival club Tottenham Hotspur were hard at work on a training holiday in Spain.

And although they were spotted exercising on the golf courses, golf holidays in Spain were the last thing on the footballers minds as they endured tough morning sprints up and down the hills.

Brits eager to shave a few pounds of the overall cost of their summer holidays in Spain have been offered a series of tips by one publication.

According to the Times, there are ten top ways in which holidaymakers can save money and still have a great break.

On flights to Spain, cutting down on baggage from 20 kg to 15 kg can save money, while making sandwiches instead of ordering an inflight meal can also earn back pounds.

Brits binge buy food and drink before taking flights to Spain

A new study has revealed that Britons like to stock up on travel essentials such as food and drink before taking flights to Spain.

The Co-operative Financial Services reports that 84 per cent of people purchase consumables items and drinks prior to boarding their plane while 60 per cent prefer to pick up a novel or magazine to read on their journey.

Other top buys for holidaymakers preparing for their holidays in Spain are duty free items - sought after by 35 per cent of Brits - and last minute essentials, which 17 per cent of passengers admitted to splashing out on.

Currency also featured as a last minute purchase for four per cent of travellers.

According to the Daily Mail, Alex Curran wore a white and gold bikini and showed off an enviable tan as she splashed about in the sea.

Malaga and Alicante are 'popular' holidays in Spain for Brits

Alicante and Malaga have been named as two of the top 20 cities in the eurozone.

According to research from online price comparison service PriceRunner, Malaga is the second most popular city in continental Europe for holidays, TravelMole reports.

Meanwhile, other popular destinations for holidays in Spain included Alicante at third on the list and Barcelona, which placed seventh.

PriceRunner managing director Mattias Berg noted that holidaymakers were looking for ways of saving money on overseas travel.
