 The Costa del Sol is the golf capital of Spain, according to one commentator.
Carrington Estates notes that it is the region's climate in particular attracts Brits to golf holidays in Spain.
The company also notes that the Costa del Sol has the largest collection of golf courses in all of Europe, currently numbering about 60.
Andalucia in particular is inundated with courses for those on golf weekends, boasting 93 of the country's 359 golf courses.

Spanish holiday destination is 'top city break' |

 The popular Spanish holiday region of Barcelona has been named as one of the top ten city break destinations in the world.
According to Post Office, demand for such Spanish holiday city breaks could "explode" in 2008 as people cut back on expenditure on longer holidays and opt instead for two or three-night short breaks.
Post Office head of travel Helen Warburton noted that a similar pattern happened in October 1987 after Black Monday when Britons took flights to Spain for city breaks.
"It was much cheaper to go on two or more breaks during the year than to take a two-week holiday.

Spanish holidays 'popular for surgery' |

 Many Britons take flights to Spain for cosmetic surgery and elective medical treatments each year.
According to Post Office, the health tourism industry saw over 70,000 people travel on flights to Spain and other overseas countries for cosmetic surgery.
Post Office notes that as well as sun and sea, many holidaymakers can find lower cost treatments abroad.
Spain is a top destination for cosmetic nips and tucks along with India, Hungary, Turkey and Malaysia.

Advice for older Brits on tennis holidays in Spain |

 Older Britons who plan to travel to Spain for tennis breaks this summer have been issued with advice from the Foreign Office.
According to the Foreign Office, some over-55s are endangering their health while on holiday by over indulging in food, alcohol and sports.
Surveys reported by the government department showed that 20 per cent of 55-plus holidaymakers attempt activities they would not normally engage in at home while on holiday.
"The Foreign Office is all for over-55s having fun on holiday, but it is crucial they make some simple preparations to help avoid encountering difficulties whilst abroad," commented Foreign Office minister Meg Munn.

Check home insurance for golf holidays in Spain |

 Britons taking golf holidays in Spain may not need to take out supplemental travel insurance to cover their clubs and equipment, one commentator suggests.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), notes that golfing equipment may be covered by home contents insurance even when taken on holiday.
However, he added that if travel insurance is taken out for transporting equipment on golf holidays in Spain, it is important to check that the policy provides adequate protection.
"Golf clubs can be valuable, so look at what the limit is on your travel insurance to see whether it covers the golf clubs," Mr Trudgill commented.

Brits 'want to share family holidays in Spain with celebrities' |

 UK holidaymakers would like to share a Spanish family holiday with celebrities like Jamie Oliver and his wife, it has been reported.
According to a study by Takethefamily, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver came top of a poll to discover the celebrity family the nation would most like to take a holiday with.
While the Oliver clan were favoured by 67 per cent of Britons, 15 per cent of UK parents claimed they would like to share their villa holidays in Spain with the Beckhams - consisting of footballer David, Spice Girl Victoria and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.
"More and more families are getting together to holiday in larger groups; It lets you hire a bigger villa and means your kids have other children to play with.

 Britons enjoying luxury holidays in Spain should think less of others back home and spend more time - and money - on themselves, one commentator has suggested.
According to research from cahoot, 13.9 million Britons tend to waste money on so-called "holiday tat" such as stuffed donkeys, sombreros and other novelty items.
Cahoot reports that a total £231 million is spent each year by Britons buying holiday souvenirs and cheap gift items while on luxury holidays in Spain and other countries.

Travel insurance 'is as important as passport' |

 Taking out travel insurance is as important as packing your passport when preparing for luxury holidays in Spain, it has been noted.
According to Sainsbury's Bank, as many as ten per cent of Britons who are heading abroad for holidays in Spanish villas with pools could be leaving the country without first having taken out travel insurance.
"It doesn't matter if it's an Easter break, a weekend away or your main summer holiday, if something happens whilst you're abroad, you need to know that you have adequate cover in place to take care of things," commented Neil Laird, travel insurance manager at Sainsbury's Finance.
The comment comes as the Association of British Travel Agents revealed that two million Britons are due to travel overseas this Easter.

Spanish holidays are "outright favourite" for Easter |

 Luxury holidays in Spain are on the menu for many Britons this weekend, as they set off for the sunny shores of resorts like La Manga Club.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) Spain is the "outright favourite country" for Britons travelling on holiday this Easter bank holiday weekend.
Additionally, the Canary Islands - in particular Tenerife - are set to attract Britons taking Spanish holidays, as the weather promises to be "excellent".
Temperatures on the Spanish holiday islands are expected to remain "firmly" in the 20s.

Older Brits 'want to travel' |

 Consumers nearing retirement age in the UK are increasingly looking forward to taking flights to Spain and other destinations once they have left their jobs, it has been reported.
According to Prudential, more than half of Britons approaching pension age are looking forward to taking control of their lives once retired.
And many of these Britons could be looking at taking extended holidays in Spain, with research from the company showing that 27 per cent of nearly-retired Brits wish to spend at least three months a year abroad.
"While those retiring this year may have dreams of foreign holidays and a life of active leisure, the reality for many is that life on a pension will bring far greater financial constraints than they envisage," Gary Shaughnessy, managing director of Prudential Retail Life & Pensions warned - advising Brits to start saving for retirement sooner.
