'Taste of Hollywood' in Alicante 04th December 2007
Alicante is set for a taste of Hollywood over the course of the next few years after the Spanish movie production firm Tornasol Films announced it is committed to extensive activity at its Valencia-based studios.

Tornasol is scheduled to produce at least five films in Valancia next year alone and the resulting movies will incorporate some of the spectacular local scenery that has attracted so many British tourists to take a holiday in Spain.

Around 16 different feature films are expected to be created by Tornasol's Alicante-based Ciudad de La Luz company before 2011 under the terms of a recently agreed deal believed to be worth millions of pounds, Variety International reports.

Gerardo Herrero, a Tornasol partner, explained to the news provider: "The deal will allow us to work like a studio, laying down shoot dates according to long-term plans.

"What the no frills carriers have done is open up a whole range of new city break destinations that people would never have thought of in the past.

Spanish holidays 'are the ethical choice' 29th November 2007
Spanish holidays are an ethically sound choice when compared to holidays in far flung destinations such as Borneo, it has been claimed.

Leo Hickman, author of The Final Call: In Search of the True Cost of Our Holidays, told the Telegraph those taking annual two-week holidays in Spain were not having the same effect as people who take ten flights per year.

Mr Hickman observed that holidaymakers travelling to Spanish resorts like Benidorm were located in a ten-kilometre "hotspot" and therefore lessening their impact on the environment.

"Tourism clusters or hubs like this are the model for more responsible travel.
