Largest saltwater lake "in the world" in Murcia 16th October 2007
The golden beaches of Mar Menor could be perfect for those looking to enjoy family holidays in La Manga, it has been reported.

According to events website What's On When, Mar Menor boasts "beautiful sandy beaches and shallow turquoise waters that are safe for children to play in".

Meanwhile, the Mar Menor area is also a great choice for watersports, the travel guide claims, noting that snorkelling, diving, windsurfing, sailing and boat trips are all available in this area.

Furthermore, those on a family holiday in La Manga can visit the Tomes Maestre watersports centre to partake in these water excursions.

Singer Rufus Wainwright to play Cartagena 15th October 2007
Those enjoying a luxury holiday in Spain have the chance to see singer Rufus Wainwright this November, as he plays in Cartagena.

Wainwright will be playing at the Nuevo Teatro Circo in Cartagena on November 9th before heading to Malaga and Madrid on November 10th and 11th when those enjoying a Spanish holiday will have a final chance to see the singer perform on Spanish soil before he heads to France.

And one lucky holidaymaker attending the show will have the chance to get on stage with Rufus to perform the spoken word part to one of his songs, in the footsteps of previous famous audience members Dawn French and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Those staying in a luxury holiday resort in Spain who would like to incorporate some music into their vacation should consider booking tickets early as due to high demand, the venue for Wainwright's performance in Barcelona has been moved from Casino de la Alianca to L'Auditori de Barcelona.

Bruce brings Magic to holidays in Spain 15th October 2007
Spanish holidays this autumn are now set to benefit from a legendary musical presence, as Bruce Springsteen plays two gigs in the country in November.

Now those enjoying a luxury holiday in Spain can enjoy more than great weather and sports, as The Boss heads to Madrid and Bilbao on November 25th and 26th.

If you are on holiday in Spain and are within driving distance of Madrid or Bilbao then it could be worth renting a hire car and travelling to either the Palacio De Deportes in Madrid or the Bilbao Exhibition Centre to watch Springsteen play with the E Street Band - as these are the only two Spanish gigs being played on the tour.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently touring the world in a promotion of their latest studio album, Magic, in which Springsteen claims to give his "most high-powered vocal performance to date".

Andalucia promoted to Indians seeking luxury holidays in Spain 15th October 2007
The region of Andalucia, close to Murcia, is being promoted as a top destination for Indians seeking luxury holidays in Spain, it has been revealed.

According to India's Economic Times, officials from the autonomous region are touting Andalucia to affluent Indian holidaymakers as a "dream destination".

Those looking to enjoy golf holidays in Spain may be enticed as the newspaper notes that the region boasts 104 golf courses.

"We see India as a growing economic power of the 21st century and we would like to see more and more Indian tourists coming to Andalucia," Gaspar Zarrias, vice president of the Andalucia autonomous region, was quoted by the publication as saying at a presentation for the media and the travel trade in India.

Scottish golfers heading to La Manga 12th October 2007
A team of junior golf players are set to be booking flights to La Manga soon after they won the chance to represent Scotland at the luxury Spanish resort.

According to the East Lothian Courier, Craigielaw Golf Club's team of youngsters carded 370 in total to reach the top of the leaderboard and qualify for the Home Nations tour.

Beating Glasgow's Eastwood Golf Club at the Carrick on Loch Lomond, five points saw the gap between each side widen until Cragielaw took the title.

For the second year running, the team will travel to La Manga on January 6th until the 11th to compete against Wales, Northern Ireland and England.

Jet2.com announces Blackpool-Ibiza route 12th October 2007
Jet2.com has announced today the launch of a route from Blackpool International Airport to Ibiza.

Those looking to go on a Spanish holiday next year will be pleased to hear that planes will take off from the north-west seaside town from the July 3rd 2008.

Passengers can expect to see similar low fares as on Jet2.

Spain 'second favourite' for Country Life readers 12th October 2007
Readers of weekly magazine Country Life have chosen Spain and the Balearic Islands as the second-most desirable place to buy a home - suggesting that it may also be popular with those looking for a Mediterranean holiday in the sun.

According to the publication, 14 per cent of respondents to its survey are currently looking at homes in the country, compared to two per cent considering regions in eastern Europe.

And among the myriad of reasons why families and travellers alike jet off for a Spanish holiday each year, Country Life's property correspondent Penny Churchill said potential buyers can benefit from "vital infrastructure" in the country.

She added that Spain and the Balearics can "be reached easily" and that people have a basic desire to enjoy an "excellent climate and attractive lifestyle".

A third of holidaymakers 'always forget something' 11th October 2007
While booking that luxury Spanish resort is possibly the most important thing when planning a holiday, it might be worth making a list of items most people have been found to forget.

According to new research from Abbey Current Accounts, some 9.6 million Brits spent a total of £350 million last year replacing things they had neglected to pack in their suitcases.

The most commonly forgotten items were toiletries, with 45 per cent of people having to replace these at the airport.

Spain is one of the healthiest nations in Europe, with Spaniards' life expectancy only exceeded by the Italians, new research reveals.

Those looking for a healthy holiday should head for the country, where the Mediterranean diet, packed with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, and the quality of life means that the average Spanish man now lives to 70, while Spanish women have a life expectancy of 75.3 per cent.

A new study by the Academy of Healthy Ageing points out that people in Mediterranean countries both live longer and enjoy a better quality of life than anywhere else in the European Union, Typically Spanish reports.
