Of those surveyed, 26 per cent claimed that spending money on a luxury holiday – such as a trip to La Manga Club – was the best way to use excess cash.

It was also revealed that for many Britons holidays are now viewed as an essential expenditure, with 33 per cent of respondents admitting that taking luxury holidays was one of their top priorities.

Britons flying to Spain with Ryanair this month will not have their flights disrupted by strike action, the airline has claimed.

Check-in staff and baggage handlers at Gatwick and Stansted airport are expected to go on strike on August 25th and August 29th.

However, Britons travelling to La Manga Club during these times need not be concerned, with Ryanair planning to operate its full flight schedule.

Speaking earlier this week, Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said: "It is irresponsible to hold passengers to ransom and we will not allow it to disrupt Ryanair passengers.

Workers want to 'quit' after holidays 18th August 2008
Nearly half of British holidaymakers consider quitting their jobs when they return from their summer break, according to a new study.

In a poll of 1,500 people, 46 per cent said they had toyed with the idea of handing in their notice when they returned from their holidays.

Andrew Gibson, the website's director, said: "Holidays are a vital way to recharge the batteries and reflect on your life and career.

"But it's only natural that, as they return to the daily grind, many people will suffer from post-holiday blues.

Roman festival to take place close to La Manga 15th August 2008
This September Britons taking flights to Spain for holidays to La Manga should make sure to take time out of their sunbathing schedule to pay a visit to nearby Cartagena.

During the later part of this month, the citizens of this ancient port clothe themselves in tunics and togas in order to recreate the founding of the city by General Asdrubal in 223 BC.

Performers also re-enact Cartagena's fall in 209 BC into the hands of the Romans.

Expect to see many people dressed in costumes typical of the period, representing both the Carthaginian troops and the Roman soldiers involved in these defining events.

Hydrotherapy at La Manga del Mar Menor 15th August 2008
Holidays in Spain don't come much better than holidays to La Manga for swimmers, marine sports fans and admirers of all things aquatic.

The luxury holiday resort in Spain benefits from not one but two seas: the Mar Menor - also known as the Minor Sea, the Little Sea and the Great Pool - and the Mediterranean.

La Manga del Mar Menor is perfect for families who want to introduce smaller children to the seaside as the coastal lagoon - which is the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe - boasts shallow warm waters and a gently sloping beach.

It is also ideal for those wishing to try their hand at water sports such as sailing, canoeing, swimming, waterskiing, jet-skiing and wind surfing.

Travel advice for those taking flights to Spain 15th August 2008
Holidaymakers should make sure that their travel insurance providers are made aware of any pre-existing medical conditions before taking their flights to Spain, it has been reported.

According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) standard travel cover can often exclude factors such as pre-existing medical conditions as routine.

Malcolm Tarling, spokesperson for the ABI added that holidaymakers who are intending to engage in active sports, such as scuba diving, also need to provide the company with details of where they are going as well as existing medical conditions.

The comment comes after Defaqto revealed that a seventh of all tourists go on holiday without travel insurance.
