 Britons jetting off on holiday to Spain over the coming months have been advised to purchase travel insurance before leaving the UK.
Erica Nelson, a spokesperson for Direct Line, said that although insurance did not cover many people left stranded by the recent ash cloud crisis, it can provide protection against many other things, such as medical repatriation.
"It's one of those things that I always recommend to people that they should get because it is so inexpensive, especially if you get an annual policy," she explained.
Travel insurance also provides cover for lost luggage and a wide range of other things, Ms Nelson added.
