Liverpool Airport parking 'is the cheapest'
People planning to book flights to Spain this summer may be interested to learn that Livepool John Lennon Airport is one of the cheapest hubs when it comes to parking.

Research carried out by consumer group Which? revealed that holidaymakers can leave their vehicle for a week from just £27.99.

The airport was also praised for its decision not to charge passengers extra for their parking if they were stranded overseas as a result of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Ryanair launches free destination guides
Budget airline Ryanair has launched a series of free destination guides aimed at people taking flights to Spain and other popular destinations.

The carrier has teamed up with Frommer's Unlimited to create the online publications, with more than 100 available.

Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara commented: "With passengers looking to travel to new exciting destinations all the time our free online destination guides will help new and seasoned travellers identify where they want to go next."

He noted that the guides contain up-to-date information on local attractions and deals, as well as airport information, maps, weather data and restaurant recommendations.

'More flights to Spain' from Doncaster Sheffield Airport
People planning to book flights to Spain next year may be interested to learn that Thomson Airways is set to increase the number of services it operates from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The carrier is to raise capacity by around nine per cent during summer 2011, transporting an additional 15,000 passengers.

"The growth is a result of strong summer 2010 forward sales and will see Thomson Airways operating two 737-800's and one 737-300 for summer 2011," said airport director Mike Morton.

He added that the hub has been working hard to raise awareness of the routes it serves.

Spain 'is one of most affordable eurozone destinations'
Brits hoping to save money this year may wish to consider taking a holiday in Spain.

Nadine Hallak, a spokesperson for Cheapflights Media, said it is one of the most affordable destinations within the eurozone.

"Spain is particularly well-serviced by low-cost airlines. Return flights, departing from the UK, are almost always available for well under £100," she explained.

Ryanair launches flight sale
Budget airline Ryanair has launched a new summer seat sale.

People planning to book flights to Spain in the near future may be interested to learn that the carrier will release one million discounted seats at midnight tonight (May 24th 2010).

Fares start from £8 for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout June.

Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara commented: "Only Ryanair sells Europe's lowest fares with a no fuel surcharge guarantee.

Paddy Power offers 'volcano ash betting'
Holidaymakers planning to take flights to Spain in the near future may be interested to learn that bookmaker Paddy Power is giving passengers the chance to place bets on whether or not they will be disrupted by the volcanic ash cloud that is currently hovering over Europe.

According to the Telegraph, the company has started taking bets on the closure of specific airports around the UK and in Ireland.

"Travellers can bet at odds of up to 20-1 to hedge against flight delays or cancellations, with Paddy allowing up to £2,000 of cover per customer per day – and £5,000 for wagers covering several days," the publication noted.

Bets are also open to those who are not taking flights to Spain in the near future, with a Paddy Power spokesman confirming that speculators can also try their luck.

Ryanair launches summer holiday seat sale
Budget airline Ryanair has launched a sale on flights to Spain and other destinations.

The carrier is releasing 500,000 tickets priced from £5 for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in June 2010.

Fares include taxes and travellers looking to bag a cheap flight to Spain or elsewhere must book before May 20th.

Flybe unveils winter schedule
Budget airline Flybe has unveiled its winter schedule for 2010/11.

Brits planning to book flights to Spain later this year may be interested to learn that the carrier is set to operate 3,214 flights a week on 143 key routes.

Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer at Flybe, said despite industry challenges over the last year, Flybe has been able to continue building its capacity.

"The diversity of our winter destinations is ideal for those wanting to book affordable business travel as well as those looking for short breaks over the autumn half-term and Christmas periods.

Extra flights added by bmi
Holidaymakers planning to book flights to Spain may be interested to learn that British Midland International (bmi) has announced that it will operate extra services during the British Airways cabin crew strikes.

The airline revealed that thousands of extra flights will be added between May 18th and June 5th 2010.

Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, chief executive of bmi, said the airline is providing customers affected by the action with a better alternative.

"We are increasing the number of seats available on our services so that customers can guarantee getting to their destinations when they planned to, particularly during the half-term period," he added.

BA 'to operate majority of services during strike'
Families planning to take flights to Spain over the coming month will be pleased to learn that British Airways (BA) plans to operate the majority of its services during the forthcoming cabin crew strike.

The airline announced that all Gatwick and London City Airport services will operate as usual, while around 50 per cent of short-haul flights are expected to depart from Heathrow.

BA chief executive Willie Walsh commented: "We are confident that many crew will ignore Unite's pointless strike call and support the efforts of the airline to keep our customers flying."

The Unite union called a 20-day strike earlier this week, with the first period of industrial action taking place from May 18th to May 23rd.
