Ryanair cabin crew calendar is a 'sell-out'

Ryanair's annual cabin crew Chrismas calendar has already sold out, raising 100,000 euros for charity.

The calendar, which features pictures of Ryanair's cabin crew members, sold out in just four weeks.

Proceeds will be donated to Dublin's Simon Community – a charity which works with the city's homeless.

"We are very proud that our 2009 cabin crew charity calendar will now make such an enormous difference to the work of the Dublin Simon Community and the lives of the hundreds of homeless people here in Dublin," said Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara.

Photographic exhibition goes on show in Alicante

A new photographic exhibition has gone on display in San Andres de Almoradi, Alicante.

The exhibition is on display until January 30th and features the work of local photographer and graphic designer Pilar Mandl.

Entitled 'pidele peras al olmo', the exhibition comprises 52 large pieces and wad organised in conjunction with the Caja de Ahorros Mediterraneo.

"The title of the exhibition was chosen to express the fact that these days everything is possible 'digitally-speaking'," Ms Mandl told the Euro Weekly News.

Mother-of-four Kerry Katona has been showing off her new figure on holiday in Spain this week.

Kerry has recently lost around five stone through liposuction and a healthy eating regime.

Pictured in the Daily Mail, Kerry was spotted enjoying a day out at a water park with her husband Mark Croft and looking tanned and toned in a two-piece turquoise bikini.

The former Atomic Kitten singer is said to be maintaining her new figure with a diet of bran flakes, protein shakes and healthy salads.

A study carried out by found that 60 per cent of people engage in more physical activity during a weeks' holiday than they do during the rest of the year.

Man City squad take a holiday in Spain

The Manchester City squad is soaking up the sun on holiday in Spain this week, with players happy to escape the frosty weather back home.

According to News in the Sun, the team is taking part in a winter training programme on the island of Tenerife.

"Hughes said he chose Tenerife to give the players a little warmth and sunshine before returning to do battle in the Premiership," the newspaper said.

Striker Robinho has already been pictured soaking up the sun by the team's hotel pool in the Adeje area.

EasyJet makes 'most flights to Malaga'

It seems that easyJet is the airline of choice for Brits taking holidays in Spain.

Figures from Spanish Airport Authority AENA show that the carrier transported more than two million passengers to and from Malaga Airport last year.

Low-fares carrier Monarch is also popular among those taking flights to Spain, with the airline carrying 804,000 passengers to Malaga in 2008, Typically Spanish reports.

Iberia came in third place, with other popular carriers including Ryanair, Thomson and Clickair.

Abta: Holidays in Spain are still on the cards

Cutting back on holidays is not an option for most people, despite the credit crunch.

That is the opinion of the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), which suggested that even amid the economic downturn, British consumers will continue to travel.

People would rather cut back on new sofas and cars than give up their annual two weeks in the sun.

Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for Abta, said there have been reports suggesting that almost 90 per cent of people would rather give up something else before their holidays in Spain and other destinations.

Independent travel expert Simon Calder said that despite recent currency fluctuations, holidays in Spain will continue to represent good value for money for British travellers.

Furthermore, there are some great deals to be had, with several airlines, such as easyJet, slashing fares on their flights to Spain.

"Spain is going to retain its position as our absolute favourite country because the pound has been down in relation to the euro; it doesn't mean we are going to turn our back to it," Mr Calder added.
