Top holiday car hire tips 03rd September 2008
Britons enjoying a holiday in Spain this year can save money on their car hire by following a series of "top tips".

According to car hire broker Holiday Autos, people taking holidays in Spain can significantly reduce the cost of their car hire by booking in advance and shopping around for the best deal.

Waiting until the last minute to arrange a booking could lead to a 40 per cent increase in the cost of vehicle rental, the company has claimed.

Ways in which holidaymakers can drive down the cost of vehicle rental include reading agreement thoroughly beforehand to ensure there are no nasty surprises and confirming a final price with the hire company before taking possession of the vehicle.

'Soak up Spanish culture' in Ronda 02nd September 2008
Holidaymakers enjoying a break at La Manga Club this month can expand their cultural knowledge by attending the Pedro Romero Fair in Ronda.

Taking place from September 5th to September 7th, the event is held every year to celebrate the life of Pedro Romero, the founding father of modern bullfighting.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see matadors dressed in traditional 18th-century costumes and view an exhibition of decorated carriages, with a prize awarded to the best one.

The Pedro Romero Fair culminates in the Goyesca bullfight – which, according to What's on When, is "one of the highlights of the Spanish social calendar".

Brits 'enjoy active holidays in Spain' 02nd September 2008
British holidaymakers are more likely to take part in sporting activities then laze around on the beach, according to new research.

A study by Cater Allen Private Bank has revealed that 54 per cent of people enjoy participating in activities when abroad, with trekking topping the list of most popular holidayactivities.

Other activities popular with Britons taking holidays to Spain include scuba diving, wind surfing and sailing.

Commenting on the findings, Richard Dunn, managing director of the bank, said that the study suggested consumers were becoming more "adventurous" in their holiday choices.

Celebrate Dia del Turista in Spain 01st September 2008
Holidaymakers enjoying a break at La Manga Club will have the opportunity to celebrate the Dia del Turista this week.

Taking place on September 4th in the nearby town of Torremolinos, the Dia del Turista – also known as Tourist Day – is an annual event held in honour of those holidaying in the area.

Locals gather to say a "thank you" to visitors for the way in which their town has been transformed by tourism.

Those attending the Dia del Turista will be entertained by street parades, musical performances and evening shows, with events taking place in the town centre and on the beaches of La Carihuela, Playamar and Bajondillo.

Fuengirola hosts beer festival 01st September 2008
Britons taking holidays in Spain will have more than just sunshine to enjoy this week as the Fuengirola Great Beer Festival takes place.

With a nod to Germany's Oktoberfest, the Great Beer Festival - held at Sohail castle – will offer visitors the opportunity to sample some of Germany's finest beer and culinary delights.

Visitors to Spain will have until September 7th to enjoy the festival, with the action taking place daily from 12:00 local time until 02:00.

Enjoy a winter holiday in Spain 29th August 2008
With plenty of sunshine all year round, Spain is the perfect destination for a winter holiday.

As part of plans to boost visitor numbers during cooler months, tourism authorities in the country are launching a new Winter in Spain campaign.

A spokesman for Spain's tourism and industry ministry said that the government was keen to get the message across to holidaymakers that Spain is a year-round destination.

Those visiting La Manga Club this winter will find no shortage of activities to keep them occupied, with the winter months perfect for golf, tennis, mountain biking and hill walking.

Holidaymakers eager to shed 'Brits abroad' image 26th August 2008
Over half of Britons admit to being 'holiday snobs' and choosing to travel to areas where they are unlikely to run into rowdy fellow countrymen.

In a poll by Cater Allen Private Bank, 57 per cent of people claimed that they liked to holiday in quiet destinations such as La Manga Club and places that were not associated with rowdy groups.

The study found that 46 per cent of people feel their holiday choices reflect their personality, while four per cent say they liked to "out do" friends and family members when it comes to travel destinations.

Sally Watts, director of marketing at Cater Allen, commented: "Britons are becoming more discerning about where they holiday and are keen to avoid stereotypes of British unruliness abroad.

Spain is a 'romance hotspot' 22nd August 2008
Britons looking for romance should consider a break at La Manga Club, after new research revealed that Spain is a holiday romance hotspot.

New research revealed that 34 per cent of Britons have enjoyed a holiday romance, with the top destinations including Majorca, Barcelona and Tenerife.

The study – carried out by moneysupermarket.com – found that those over 60 were the most likely to find love abroad, while the residents of East Anglia were the most likely to get married after a holiday fling.

Spanish hotels 'among Europe's best' 21st August 2008
Luxury Spanish resorts such as La Manga Club are among the best in Europe, according to a new report.

A recent study by Hotelclub.es revealed that accommodation in Spain is streets ahead of other destinations and that the country boasts some of Europe's best hotels and resorts.

In the study - which looked at the world's best hotels - Spain beat off competition from France and Italy to take 5th position.

CelebAir flies to Spain 21st August 2008
Britons booking flights to Spain this summer have the opportunity to be waited on by a host of well-known celebrities, as ITV's CelebAir takes to the skies next month.

The programme will see 11 celebrities take over the running of a Monarch plane and carry out a range of duties from checking passengers in to conducting safety demonstrations.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to fly with CelebAir to a number of Spanish destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza, Menorca and Tenerife.

Commenting on the prospect of celebrity flights to Spain, ITV2 controller Zai Bennett said: "CelebAir promises to be a huge reality event this autumn on ITV2.
