Older holidaymakers are 'becoming more adventurous' |

The older generation of British holidaymakers are becoming increasingly adventurous, it has been suggested.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito), older holidaymakers are opting for active breaks and travelling to destinations such as Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Spain, as well as countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
Aito chairman Derek Moore commented: "The older generation are travelling more. Their kids have grown up and are much more self-sufficient these days so they are able to have a look at a bit more disposable income.

Traditional family holidays 'revived' by credit crunch |

Traditional family holidays in Spain and other popular destinations have been "revived" by the recent credit crunch, according to a new study.
Research carried out by Abbey revealed that the current economic climate has encouraged people to take holidays with their parents and extended family members in order to save money.
Some of the benefits of holidaying with a large group include cheaper accommodation costs and the availability of free childcare.
According to Abbey, almost half of people in their late 20s now holiday with their parents or grandparents.

Holidays in Spain 'remain popular' |

Holidays to short-haul destinations such as Spain are likely to remain popular, despite the credit crunch, it has been claimed.
Antony Martin, MD of travel insurance specialist Insurfor.com, said that although long-haul destinations such as Australia and the US may be affected, countries served by budget airlines are still likely to remain popular.
Meanwhile, holidaymakers travelling to La Manga Club will certainly find no shortage of economical flights to Spain with Ryanair, bmibaby and easyJet all serving the area.

Half of Britons book holidays 'independently' |

Almost half of Britons book their holidays independently, according to new research.
A study carried out by Mintel revealed that 47 per cent of holidaymakers booked their own flights and accommodation over the last year.
Furthermore, the research found that 42 per cent of holidaymakers opted for package deals, while 11 per cent used went for a mixture of both.
Holidaymakers staying at La Manga Club can book their flights to Spain with a number of providers including Ryanair, bmibaby and Jet2.

Spain named as 'top wine destination' |

Spain has been named as one of the world's top ten destinations for fine lovers.
Research carried out by online travel community TripAdvisor revealed that wine-loving Britons should look no further than Spain for their next trip abroad.
The area of La Rioja was singled out as a particularly good area for wine producing.
Divided into three regions - Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Baja the area is famous for its "outstanding" red wines, laced with distinctive vanilla flavours.

British couples 'want to marry abroad' |

An increasing number of British couples are choosing to get married overseas, it has been claimed.
Thea Darricotte, executive retail editor at Conde Nast Brides Magazine, suggested that couples were shunning traditional weddings and travelling to European destinations such as Spain in an effort to beat the credit crunch.
She rejected claims by the government that weddings were in decline and said that statistics often did not reflect the number of people who get married abroad.
"There has been so much flooding, and it's a wet September, the wettest on record for a long time.

Getting married abroad is much more economical than tying the knot in the UK, it has been suggested.
Shona Swain, long-haul manager for Thomson and First Choice, said that while getting married abroad may have seemed extravagant in the past, it is very often a cheaper option.
"Couples who marry overseas tend to have fewer guests so receptions tend to be smaller. Another advantage of getting married abroad is that couples then don't have to fork out again for their honeymoon as they are already away," she explained.

Holidaymakers 'want clean and quiet hotels' |

A new study has revealed what holidaymakers find the most and least appealing about hotels.
Research carried out by online travel community TripAdvisor revealed that 30 per of people believe that location is the most important factor when it comes to hotels, while 24 per cent of people claimed that good customer service was important to them.
Overall, it seems that the 'ideal' hotel is one similar to La Manga Club, where guests can expect high levels of customer service and cleanliness.
Commenting on the findings, Michele Perry, vice president of global communications at TripAdvisor, said: "Your hotel experience can make or break your vacation and we've found that travelers don't ask for much.

Britons enjoying a holiday in Spain this year can save money on their car hire by following a series of "top tips".
According to car hire broker Holiday Autos, people taking holidays in Spain can significantly reduce the cost of their car hire by booking in advance and shopping around for the best deal.
Waiting until the last minute to arrange a booking could lead to a 40 per cent increase in the cost of vehicle rental, the company has claimed.
Ways in which holidaymakers can drive down the cost of vehicle rental include reading agreement thoroughly beforehand to ensure there are no nasty surprises and confirming a final price with the hire company before taking possession of the vehicle.

'Soak up Spanish culture' in Ronda |

Holidaymakers enjoying a break at La Manga Club this month can expand their cultural knowledge by attending the Pedro Romero Fair in Ronda.
Taking place from September 5th to September 7th, the event is held every year to celebrate the life of Pedro Romero, the founding father of modern bullfighting.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see matadors dressed in traditional 18th-century costumes and view an exhibition of decorated carriages, with a prize awarded to the best one.
The Pedro Romero Fair culminates in the Goyesca bullfight which, according to What's on When, is "one of the highlights of the Spanish social calendar".
