Flybe winter routes now on sale

Brits hoping to arrange flights to Spain for later this year may be interested to learn that budget airline Flybe has put a selection of its winter flights on sale.

Those looking to travel after October 25th can now book flights from the UK to popular destinations such as Alicante and Malaga, with services available to both destinations from Exeter and Southampton.

Flights start from £39.99 one-way, including taxes and charges.

Brits 'taking holidays but spending less'

British consumers are still booking holidays to Spain and other destinations, it has been claimed.

However, a new poll has revealed that holidaymakers are planning to spend almost £300 less this year.

Research carried out by Holiday-Rentals revealed that the average family is planning to spend £2,092 on a break abroad this year.

The poll suggested that the biggest cutbacks will be on transport, with families expected to spend £82 less on getting to their destination than they did in 2007.

Weddings to come onboard easyJet flights?

Passengers on flights to La Manga could soon be able to get married while in the air, if easyJet gets its way.

The budget airline, which flies to Almeria, Murcia and Alicante on the Costa Blanca, has enquired with authorities as to whether its captains will be able to officiate weddings.

If its proposals are accepted, couples will be able to depart the UK as engaged and arrive for their holidays in Spain as husband and wife, eTravel reports.

"If our request is replied positively, then so called 'floating on cloud nine' would get a new meaning for people in love - and we can offer another special service to our passengers," commented Paul Simmons, UK regional general manager for easyJet.

The AA has issued advice to anybody hiring a car in Spain or simply travelling long distances as part of their holidays.

Car hire in Murcia is one of the best ways to explore this beautiful region of southern Spain, but motorists should be wary of spending too long on the road.

Research by the AA revealed that two-thirds of drivers do not take breaks when travelling long distances - putting them at risk of becoming tired and potentially causing accidents.

Therefore, the organisation advises planning journeys properly before they take to the road, factoring at least a 15-minute break into journeys of more than three hours.

Free rounds on golf holidays in La Manga Club

Those booking golf holidays in Spain now have even more reason to choose La Manga Club, after the resort revealed it will be offering free rounds to many guests.

Golfers who make their bookings for holidays at the Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe before May 18th will be entitled to a free round for each night they stay.

That equates to a saving of 71 euros (£48) a day, meaning golfers could be saving hundreds over a week-long break.

The deal applies to any holiday taken before July 10th or between August 23rd and 31st.

That is the advice of actress Emilia Fox, who believes the essentials for the perfect holiday are "a good book, good company and great food" - as well as sunshine, preferably.

Fox, who has starred in adaptations of novels such as Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, told the Telegraph that having a book with you can even make the travel as enjoyable as the holiday itself.

"I love the feeling of being transported to another world when I'm travelling, then arriving at my destination," she explained.
