Newlyweds opt for 'mini-moons' 07th November 2008
Gone are the days of newlyweds jetting off to the Caribbean to take a three-week honeymoon, instead an increasing number of couples are opting to take short breaks or 'mini-moons', a new study has revealed.
Research carried out by esure found that more and more British couples are choosing to take a short break after their nuptials and go on a longer holiday the following year.

Of those surveyed by the company, 17 per cent said they simply could not afford to take a long honeymoon after paying for a wedding.

It's interesting to see how trends have changed over the years.

The streets of Malaga are about to be made safer by the introduction of new city-centre traffic radars.

Four radars have already been installed in Malaga and will begin operating soon, Euro Weekly reports.

The radars will help to ensure that drivers do not exceed city speed limits and the flow of traffic in and out of Malaga is not disrupted.

Holidaymakers urged to get travel cover 07th November 2008
Taking out a good travel insurance policy has never been so important, it has been claimed.

Speaking yesterday, (October 6th), Bruce Kirby, chief executive of Medex Global Group, said that travel insurance cover was economical and sensible, offering travellers the opportunity to protect themselves against the huge medical costs associated with overseas hospital stays.

Mr Kirby added that too often those taking holidays in Spain and other destinations associate travel insurance with lost luggage and delays; however, he pointed out that a good policy offers protection against dozens of potential problems.

"Nothing can put a family or business at risk like an international medical emergency.

Faster trains on Murcia-Alicante route 07th November 2008
Renting a car in Murcia is one way to get about the region while holidaying in La Manga Club, but for those who cannot drive, taking the train is one alternative.

And, from early next year, passengers on Renfe's rail services will be able to enjoy a new, upgraded service.

An investment in the Alicante-Murcia route will see 560 new passenger trains introduced, the Euro Weekly News reports.

The high-speed AVE trains are capable of travelling at more than 160 kilometres an hour - and it is hoped that the faster service will attract 150 million new passengers over the next two years.

Another boost for Murcia drivers 07th November 2008
Renting a car in Murcia is one of the best ways to get the most out of a holiday in La Manga Club, expanding the range of options one has and freeing up one's itinerary.

Those who take advantage of car hire in Murcia - for example, by booking a vehicle in advance via the La Manga Club website - will soon be able to benefit from a better quality of road in the region.

Roads running through Cartagena, San Javier, Torre Pacheco, Los Alcazares, La Union, San Pedro del Pinatar and Fuente Alamo are all set to be improved under a new government initiative, Round Town news reports.

The news follows last week's announcement that Murcia's motorways are set to be improved in a 200 million-euro scheme.

Economic issues 'not affecting tourism' 06th November 2008
British people are unlikely to cut back on their major holidays, despite economic issues being increasingly high on the agenda, it has been suggested.

With the credit crunch affecting people's mortgages and ability to get loans, and utility bills becoming more expensive, many people are willing to cut back on additional short breaks.

But when it comes to taking one main holiday a year, 90 per cent of Brits will not let the economic clouds stop them from seeking brighter skies abroad, Imaginative Traveller found in a survey.

The company's managing director Matt West was quoted by Travel Trade Gazette as saying: "Travel is an integral part of most people’s lifestyles and while they may cut down on secondary holidays and short breaks, they are still willing to factor in at least one memorable holiday per year.
