Spanish theme park unveils underwater nativity 08th January 2009
With Christmas out of the way, the last thing many families staying in Spanish holiday villas would expect to see is a nativity scene.

They would perhaps be even more surprised to come across the traditional yuletide figurines underwater.

Nevertheless, that is what awaits visitors to the popular Costa Blanca theme park Terra Natura. Five stone figures - representing Mary, Joseph, Jesus, an ox and a donkey have been placed at the bottom of a shark tank.

Holidaymakers 'adapt travel habits' 02nd January 2009
Despite the economic downturn, British holidaymakers are not sacrificing their holidays to Spain and other popular destinations, it has been revealed.

According to lastminute.com, holidaymakers are dealing with the downturn by changing their travel habits and looking at other ways to save money.

Bookings of all-inclusive holidays rose by 21 per cent in 2008 and that trend is set to continue over the coming year.

Irish stars celebrate New Year's Eve in Spain 02nd January 2009
Irish television presenter Brian Ormond and his model girlfriend Pippa O'Connor have welcomed 2009 on holiday in Spain.

The glamorous pair are reportedly enjoying a relaxing two-week break in the popular resort of Marbella.

Speaking last week to the Herald, RTE host Brian said there was always plenty to do in Spain and that there would be no shortage of parties.

"I never really go away and I've never been a big New Year's Eve person but this year, I just wanted to do something different so we decided to head off and get a bit of sun," he commented.

Spain is 'number one' for Scottish holidaymakers 02nd January 2009
Spain is the number one destination for Scottish holidaymakers, it has been revealed.

According to figures from BAA Scotland, more than 1.2 million people flew to sunny destinations such as Malaga, Alicante and Murcia last year, the BBC reports.

Commenting on the results, BAA Scotland spokesman Donald Morrison said that holidays in Spain were still popular, with the Netherlands and Ireland ranked in second and third place respectively.

Monarch makes flights to Spain 'easier' for families 02nd January 2009
Travelling with children is never easy, however, low-fare airline Monarch has announced plans to introduce a new complementary 10kg hold baggage allowance for infants.

Speaking recently, the airline said that as well as offering parents this extra allowance, prams, pushchairs and car seats will continue to be carried for free.

Liz Savage, the managing director of Monarch's scheduled service division, said the airline was committed to providing good customer service to all of its customers.

"As an airline flying to popular holiday destinations in Spain, Portugal and Cyprus we carry many young families on their annual holidays and feel it is important to make their travel experience as seamless as possible," she added.

Brits flock to Spain for festive fun in the sun 22nd December 2008
Thousands of British holidaymakers are preparing to take flights to Spain with low-fares airline Monarch over the coming week.

Last week Monarch revealed it will be flying over 140,000 passengers to destinations such as Spain before January 5th.

According to the airline, some of its most popular routes include Alicante and Malaga, with British holidaymakers clearly attracted by the warm weather, unspoiled beaches and fantastic range of visitor facilities.

Fellow budget airline bmibaby announced last week that it experienced a "surge" in bookings after launching a sale earlier this month.

Holidaymakers urged to 'pack with care' 22nd December 2008
Britons taking flights to Spain over the festive season have been urged to pack their suitcases with care.

BAA, which operates several of the country's biggest airports, has warned passengers that hand-luggage restrictions still apply and that liquids over 100 ml are to be stored in the hold.

Sharp items such as tweezers and nail scissors are also prohibited and passengers are advised to leave their present wrapping until they reach their destination.

Ian Hutcheson, BAA security director, commented: "We want to ensure the security process is as efficient as possible, and so we’re advising passengers to check the hand baggage restrictions before they come to the airport.

Spain set for mild winter 18th December 2008
There is good news for those taking holidays to Spain over the coming months, after it was revealed that the country is set to enjoy a mild winter.

Spanish Meteorological Agency AHMET has predicted that an anticyclone will prevent rain for the majority of the country until at least Christmas day, reported Typically Spanish.

Furthermore, forecasters believe the next three months will be warmer than usual, with temperatures remaining mild until March.

The weather prediction is good news for those holidaying at La Manga Club during the winter months, with guests able to enjoy the resort's outdoor facilities.
