Group insurance recommended for tennis and golf holidays |

Groups heading off on golf holidays in Spain this year have been advised to take out group insurance by a leading broker.
Direct Line Travel Insurance state that group insurance offers sporty travellers a simple way to reduce costs, while ensuring their Spanish holiday fun in the sun is properly protected.
Head of the insurance company Chris Price comments: "If you and your mates are heading off on a sporting holiday, you can get together and benefit from a group discount."
A recent Foreign and Commonwealth Office report has stated that 31 per cent of British holidaymakers fail to take out adequate sports insurance cover when going on vacation abroad.

At the Deli-Cafe at Hyatt Lomas Village holidaymakers can enjoy breakfast on the terrace while taking in early morning views of the La Manga Club resort.

Designed in 1971 and remodelled in 1992 by Arnold Palmer, the South Course at La Manga Club has hosted many major golf tournaments and is available for the pleasure of those on Spanish holidays at La Manga Club.
The South Course has hosted major professional tournaments such as the men's and women's Spanish Opens and PGA Championships as well as a number of businesses' corporate events.
The golf course is located in the centre of the resort and it boasts palm-lined fairways and a variety of water hazards and bunkers many of which are strategically positioned.
Despite this, there are few hidden dangers on the South Course.

'Greater range of golf holidays available' |

More Britons are interested in incorporating sport into their holidays, such as their luxury holidays in Spain, it has been reported.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), an increasing range of sports-related holidays are now available from UK operators.
The news comes after figures from the Office of National Statistics Social Trends 2008 survey suggested that the number of UK residents regularly taking part in sport and exercise is on the increase.
"People are much more aware of health issues and the fact that our sedentary daily lives leave us open to potential heart attack and stroke problems in later life," Derek Moore, chairman of AITO, said.

On a holiday at La Manga Club, children can practice on three 18-hole courses at La Manga Club while practice facilities are directly targeted at juniors.
The La Manga Club Academy of Golf provides courses for junior golfers as well as adults and runs from Monday to Friday all year round.
Children from the ages of eight or nine upwards with a keen interest in golf can even participate in the adult academy training sessions.

While Britain is a nation of golf lovers, new research suggests that the clubs of many are gathering dust in cupboards as opposed to being taken out on to the fairway.
According to a new study by LV=, although one in five households has at least one set of golf clubs, 50 per cent of these have not been played with in the past six months.
Research by the company also shows that more than £10.4 billion worth of tennis, squash and badminton racquets and bicycles are also lying dormant in Britain's households.

An unusual wave of refreshing rain has fallen across parts of Spain this week.
The golf courses of Spain are set to benefit as the uncommon showers continue into the weekend, meaning springy surfaces for those taking flights to Spain for golfing breaks later this month.
According to the Meteorology Institute, there has been 40 per cent less rain than usual in Spain since October 1st 2007, the Times reports.
While the rain falls this week, those planning holidays in Spain this summer can look forward to sunny skies.

Spain 'leads the way' for golf holidays |

Turkey has "some catching up to do" if it intends to rival Spain in the golfing holiday stakes, it has been reported.
According to Easier, the Turkish Golf Federation is hoping to add 100 new golf courses to its country's current total of fewer than 20 golf greens.
However, Spain's European golfing monopoly does not look under threat as yet.
The Costa Del Sol is one of Spain's most popular golf regions, boasting 45 golf courses.

Britons are becoming increasingly interested in purchasing property in Spain as golfing holidays become ever more popular, it has been reported.
According to Homes Worldwide, global golf tourism is worth in the region of an annual 10 billion.
The popularity of golfing breaks is also reported to be growing at a rate of two and a half times the speed of other leisure-based travel.
The company reports that golf in Spain in particular is popular, reflected by the developments built around golf courses including hotels, restaurants, spas and other amenities.
