| Play paddle tennis in La Manga | 14th May 2008 | | Home to world-renowned tournaments like the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, La Manga Club Tennis Centre is a 28-court facility providing the ultimate leisure and relaxation facility on a Spanish holiday.
To provide a twist, paddle tennis is also on offer on two glass-walled courts combining skills involved in tennis, racketball and squash.
Paddle tennis is played in both singles and doubles and uses the same scoring as tennis, but involves only underhand serves and is played on a smaller court.
For traditionalists, based in the heart of the resort, the centre has a tennis academy and artificial grass, clay and hard surfaces alongside a tennis academy.

| Regular visitors to Spain advised to book annual insurance | 08th May 2008 | | Frequent flyers - which may include those heading on tennis holidays in Spain - have been advised to take out an annual policy by a leading representative body.
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) believe those who regularly take advantage of last minute Spanish holiday deals may want to consider a yearly policy to avoid forgetting to book insurance in the rush excitement of a next-day bargain.
Spokesperson for Abta Sean Tipton comments: "If you take more than two trips a year anyway then it is very sensible to do that [take out annual insurance] because youll get the benefits of it straightaway."
He added that the currently competitive insurance market in the UK means Spanish holiday seekers can expect even greater savings from an annual policy.

| La Manga-based tennis player wins 'crucial' match | 23rd April 2008 | | A British tennis player living in La Manga has made the headlines - for narrowly avoiding breaking the world record for the longest run of consecutive defeats.
Dubbed the worst player in the world, 21-year-old Robert Dee finally won his first ever professional match after three years and 55 games in Spain this week.
Dee now remains joint world record holder with Diego Beltranena of Guatemala.
"Obviously it was great to get my first win but I can't believe that people don't have anything better to write about.

| Tennis holidays and football tournaments | 21st April 2008 | | Tennis holidays are being increasingly offered to British holidaymakers by tour operators, it has been reported.
According to Derek Moore, chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), as well as tennis, golf breaks alongside canoeing, cycling, walking and sailing holidays are becoming more widely available.
The news comes after the Office of National Statistics' Social Trends 2008 survey revealed that one quarter of adults in England are currently members of a sports club.
"We don't necessarily wish to sit on a beach sunning ourselves for 14 days in the 21st century," Mr Moore commented.

| Tennis prodigy travels to La Manga Club | 17th April 2008 | | A young tennis player from Ipswich who plays at the region's sports club, Sam Sheldrake, is a regular visitor to the popular Spanish holiday resort of La Manga Club, it has been revealed.
According to the Evening Star. 15-year-old Sam was outstanding competitor of the week at the Suffolk LTA Junior Easter Hardcourt Tournament, losing only one game.
Sam was awarded the Daphne Ahmed Shield for his achievement after also winning the under-18 doubles alongside under-14 singles runner-up Rohan Able.
