| Growth of regional airports offering flights to Spain | 22nd November 2007 | | There has been a growth in the number of people heading out on Spanish holidays from regional UK airports, it has been reported.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a main factor behind this growth has been the expansion of low-cost carriers.
Recent CAA figures show that the number of annual passengers travelling through UK regional airports has surpassed 100 million - roughly three times the amount that flew from regional airports in 1990.
"One of the main factors is that the London airports are becoming increasingly busy and as a result of that, more services are being offered from the regional airports," commented Chris Mason, spokesperson for the CAA.
