Janne Mommo hits hole-in-one at La Manga Club |

 Janne Mommo of Finland got off to a flying start at the season opener of the Ecco Tour on La Manga Club's award-winning golf course.
The player hit a hole-in-one during the first round of the competition, finishing the day as the joint leader in the clubhouse with a five-under-par 68.
Mommo was tied for first place with Peter Bocian (Sweden), Marius Thorp (Norway) and Thomas Norret (Denmark), who was 18th in the Tour's order of merit in its last update.
Play has already resumed on day two, with Norret leading the pack at 17:36 local time by two shots at eight under.

La Manga Club 'might be perfect for Fabio Capello' |

 If Fabio Capello is looking for a place to visit this year, the luxury holiday resort of La Manga Club might have everything he needs.
The destination has proven popular with England managers down the years, with Glenn Hoddle using it as the training camp for his squad ahead of the 1998 Fifa World Cup.
And now it has been suggested that soccer is not the only sport attracting Capello's attention, with Mirror Football reporting this week that he is a huge fan of golf.
La Manga has a strong reputation as a golfing holiday destination, being voted the best resort in Europe several times and having hosted numerous major competitions, such as the Spanish PGA Championships and the Spanish Open.

La Manga Club gives England women "perfect boost" |

 The England under-19 women's football team's stay at La Manga Club last week has been described as giving them the "perfect boost" ahead of the elite qualifying round for this year's European Championship.
According to the Football Association's official website, their performance in the La Manga Ten Nation Tournament has left them in good stead for the competition, in which they are the reigning title holders.
England won all three of their matches in Murcia, defeating Denmark and Finland before rounding off the week with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Germany.
And they will next head off to Sweden to take on the losing finalists from the last European Championship in the second qualifying round of the 2009-10 tournament.

 La Manga Club in Murcia has drawn attention to its upcoming Funlandia programme, which could provide an excellent option for those looking for family holidays in Spain next month.

La Manga Club attracts top U-19 women's footballers |

 La Manga Club played host to some of the best teams in under-19 women's football last week, with a number of the sport's European giants training at the famous venue.
Germany took on old rivals England on the resort's practice pitches, while Holland, Italy, France, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark also travelled to the Murcia destination to play some matches.
Between them, the teams represent all eight of the countries to reach the quarter-finals of the 2009 Uefa Women's Championship at senior level and together with the USA - who were also in attendance - three of the semi-finalists at the 2007 Fifa Women's World Cup.
La Manga Club is world-renowned for its football training facilities and has attracted some of the biggest domestic and international sides to its pitches over the years.

Millions of Brits 'planning holidays in Spain' |

 Millions of Britons are planning to take holidays in Spain and other sun-soaked destinations this year, according to new research.
A poll carried out by Lloyds TSB revealed that an estimated 35.6 million people will be jetting overseas for their main break in 2010, with many encouraged by the recent bout of cold weather in the UK.
Of those surveyed, 60 per cent intend to stay within Europe, while 12 per cent will be travelling to the US.

Majority of holidaymakers 'prepared to use airport scanners' |

 British travellers are prepared to reveal all in the name of security, new research has revealed.
A poll carried out by Holiday Extras found that the majority of people taking flights to Spain and other destinations are in favour of airport body scanners.
Around 43 per cent of respondents claimed they would be happy to use one of the machines if selected by a security official.
Furthermore, 35 per cent of people said they find it hard to understand why people would be opposed to them.
