La Manga Club truly is a great place to enjoy a golfing break, with its three championship courses and its great climate, even the most discerning golfer will enjoy a stay at this exclusive resort. No matter whether you are golfing alone, as a couple or as a group, however, when you plan your stay at La Manga, its worth bearing in mind the golf dress code, so you can make sure you pack everything you need.
If you are accustomed to golfing at home, none of the golf dress code at La Manga Club is likely to come as a surprise to you, but its worth doing a double check before you fly, just incase. In keeping with the high standard of the resort, the dress code for the golf course applies no matter whether you are a golfer, a caddie or you are just wandering round the course with your golf-mad friend or partner, so do bear that in mind.
Working from the head down, all standard golf headwear is accepted by the club, as are peaked caps. The one caveat with peaked caps however is that the peak must be worn at the front in order to adhere to the club’s requirements. Men’s shirts can be long or short sleeved but must have collars and are required to be tucked in at all times, unless the design of the shirt is specifically intended to be worn outside. When it comes to branding, so long as the branding or marking is golf related, it’ll be acceptable, anything non-golf related isn’t allowed. The exception to this is golf branded shirts that don’t have collars. They are not allowed.
Trousers and shorts must be tailored and appropriate for golf. The rules for shorts are quite strict and require that shorts are neither below the knee nor more than 10cm above the knee. If you’re planning to wear shorts, you must wear socks of one of two types. If your socks are long, they must be single colour and if they’re short, they must be above the ankle and white. No type of denim, camouflage or combat trousers are allowed nor are sport socks (unless intended for golf). When it comes to shoes, golf shoes with soft spikes as well as simple black or white training shoes are permitted (without any other colour markings). Sandals are not allowed.
Lady golfers are excluded from the collared shirt requirement but ladies shirts must have sleeves if they don’t have collars. Sleeveless shirts are required to have collars. Necklines must be conservative and should be no more than 10cm below the neck. Halter necklines and tank tops aren’t allowed.
Although dress codes can seem overly strict from time to time, it’s often the adherence to these types of rules that make for a really enjoyable experience on the golf course. The uniformity of the players, the dedication to upholding the rules of the game and the feeling of community are all elements that add to the pleasure of playing a round on a course like those to be found at La Manga, so do make sure you stick to the dress code.
