La Manga Club Academies

La Manga Club is an undisputed haven for people who enjoy sport, no matter their age and no matter their sporting acumen, offering a host of academies as well as individual sporting opportunities, it is easy to see why more and more people flock to La Manga to get some warm Spanish sunshine at the same time as stretching their muscles and honing their game. In terms of the range of academies on offer, theres: The Golf Academy; The Junior Golf Academy; The Tennis Academy; The Junior Tennis Academy; The Tennis Pro Academy; The Junior Football Academy; The Michael Owen Junior Rugby Academy; The Adventure Athletics Academy for Kids; The Junior Dance Academy and The Lee Westwood Junior Golf Academy. Theres no getting away from it, by anyones standards, this is a pretty impressive list of sporting academies.

Starting with The La Manga Club Golf Academies, they come in Junior and Adult versions, both of which are focused on top quality tuition to improve your skills. The whole golf academy concept is based on a combination of individual tuition, supported by computerized video analysis of your swing, followed by specific training and coaching to take your game to a whole new level. The golf academy is fully equipped to provide everything you need for your two or four day course, so you do not even need to worry about taking your own clubs if you dont want to. Adult Academy options include a choice between The Total Golf Learning Experience; Learn and Play and Quick Fix, each of which has different objectives and are aimed at different golf-related issues. The Junior Golf Academy is split into two age groups, 9 and under and 15 and under, both of which run over a 4 day period. Thereafter, there is The Lee Westwood Junior Academy, which runs on a highly limited basis for 7-11 and 12-16 year olds who really want to look at the big picture of their game.

If tennis is your sport, then The Tennis Academy, The Junior Tennis Academy or the Tennis Pro Academy are likely to be in your sights whilst in residence at La Manga. Senior, or Adult Academy courses range from a 10-hour option to a 25-hour option with a Weekend Warriors intensive weekend course also on offer. The La Manga Junior Tennis Academy is the ideal spot to get young ones either into the game or to get them really focused on improvement. Split into groups aged 12 and under, 15 and under and 19 and under, there’s never a fear that they will end up with people either much older or much younger than themselves. In fact the Junior Tennis Academy is so geared up to getting even the tiniest tots into the game that they’ve adopted the International Tennis Federation recommended ways of slowing the game down and making it easier for young players – now that’s forward thinking. Finally, for anyone really serious about taking their game up a notch from an already serious level then the Tennis Pro Academy is the place to head. With intensive training and an obligatory qualifying standard, this truly is tennis at its best.

The Junior Football Academy is the perfect place for any budding young Beckham (male of female) to head if they want to have fun whilst improving their fitness, tactics and game. FA/UEFA qualified coaches will make learning fun for groups of 3-16 year olds and 13 to 18 year olds who just love footie. Organised to run during school holidays, the Junior Football Academy is the ideal place for kids to meet other kids of the same age, with shared interests, while giving them the opportunity for a really valuable football experience during their stay at La Manga. Combining the La Manga football academy with cricket and, or tennis is a great way to plan an action-packed week for the kids while gaining some valuable discounts and gifts in the process.

The Michael Owen Junior Rugby Academy is a brand new offering at La Manga Club and, as the name suggests, is fronted by Michael Owen, the Welsh rugby international player. Once again split into different age groups, there’s an academy option for 9-12 year olds and another for 13-16 year olds. Organised into daily themes, this rugby academy is perfect for anyone who is serious about developing their game while at the same time having lots of fun. The Michael Owen Junior Rugby Academy normally runs Monday to Friday during July and August and, like all academy options must be booked well in advance to ensure a place.

The Adventure Athletics Academy for Kids is a one hour per day academy which was designed by Daley Thompson and is fronted by Nick Buckfield and Kate Staples (Olympian pole vaulter and ex-Gladiator and Commonwealth athlete respectively). This academy is focused on fun while developing 7 to 12 year olds’ ability to work in groups and improve their sporting abilities at the same time. The Junior Dance Academy is perfect for any would be dancers who want to benefit from the coaching of a top-notch choreographer. Normally running during summer and Easter school holidays, the La Manga Junior Dance academy is a 5-day affair split into the following age groups: 4 and over; 7 and over; 12 and over and 16 years plus. So, no matter how you look at it, there’s an academy at La Manga for almost everyone. Now, that really makes for a great holiday all round, doesn’t it?
