If you have already booked your accommodation at La Manga Club and are excited about the holiday that awaits you, you will no doubt be at the stage of deciding how you will make your way to the resort. No matter where in the UK you live, there is always the option drive from door to door. Although driving this sort of distance can seem like a real marathon, if you have the time to make the journey enjoyable along the way, by stopping off in interesting places, it can be really rewarding. If you decide to drive, you will have the choice between the channel tunnel, the short channel ferries or some of the longer UK to Spain ferry services, such as Bilbao or Santander.
All of that said, it is only fair to suspect that most people heading to La Manga Club choose to take to the skies. The best airports to head for are Alicante or Murcia (San Javier) and you should have no trouble finding a budget airline to get you there. With a host of cheap airlines operating from a range of UK airports to these two Spanish destinations, tracking down a cheap-ish flight should not prove too much of a challenge. It is well worth checking out the likes of Ryanair, BMI Baby, Jet2 and EasyJet to see if their routes fit your requirements.
Once you’ve identified a flight option that will work for you and your fellow travellers, you’ll need to consider how you plan to get from the airport to La Manga Club itself. With Murcia (San Javier) Airport only 20 minutes from the resort, taxis come cheap and can be really attractive if there are a few of you. Priced at around 50 euro, this option certainly won’t break the bank. Alicante on the other hand, is that bit further from La Manga and will cost about 130 euro, which again isn’t expensive. Notwithstanding these relatively cheap taxi services, it seems like a shame to travel all that way and not avail of car hire to give you the freedom to do what you want while you’re there.
Although La Manga Club is the sort of resort where you could spend a good two or even three weeks without needing to go off site, the freedom offered by car hire will allow you to decide if you want to explore during your stay. Add to that, the cheap rates offered by the car hire companies these days and it’s well worth considering car hire for your holiday rather than plumping for a taxi. If you do a Google Search for “car hire at Alicante Airport” or “car hire at Murcia (San Javier) Airport” you’ll be surprised at the number of offers available.
In fact, on the day of writing, the Alicante car hire option gave rise to just short of 700,000 results with Rental Cars, Record Rent a Car and Economy Car Hire heading up the list. Granted, the list at Murcia (San Javier) only listed 34,900 options (!), but contained some well-known names like Argus Car Hire, Europcar and Avis. So, with this amount of competition, you should be able to play the car hire companies off against each other to secure yourself a really good deal.
