Does the Euro effect your holiday to La Manga

The rate of exchange of the Euro does have a direct impact on the amount of money you have to spend on your holiday to Spain, if you are travelling from a country that does not use the Euro as its currency, such as the United Kingdom. Over the past few years the rate of exchange for the Euros to pound has fluctuated from a high of 1.6 Euros to the pound, to a low of almost 1 Euro to 1 pound.

Depending on which angle you are coming from, these wild fluctuations can be a good or bad thing. A high rate of say 1.6 is very attractive, if you are looking to go on holiday, or looking to purchase a property in Spain, as you will be able to receive a lot more Euros for your pound, when compared to a lower rate of exchange.

This will also be true of your mortgage payments being a lot lower to service, if you opt to take a euro mortgage from one of the Spanish banks. However the downside if this scenario and many Spanish properties buyers have been caught out with this, is that if you take out your mortgage when the rates are higher and the rate of exchange falls, then you will need to find more pounds sterling each month to service and maintain the monthly mortgage payments.

This possible or even probable movement in the rate of exchange also needs to be taken into account with the servicing cost of your owned apartment or villa at La Manga Club. In addition to the costs of maintaining the property, you will also need to take care of any management fees, that are usually payable annually and general club fees, which entitle you to sports and leisure activity discounts.

Generally a higher rate of exchange is good news for holiday makers, who have exchanged their pounds for Euros, as you will be able to get a lot more for their money on La Manga Club.

All restaurants, bars and activities on La Manga Club readily accept cash and credit cards. You need to be wary of credit card transactions in a foreign currency, such as euros, as the rate of exchange that the credit card company may use when converting the transaction from euros to pounds sterling is out of your hands completely. In our experience the rate of exchange that the credit card company uses, is very often a penal rate and the purchase may be more costly than you think, when you receive your credit card statement.

It may be better to settle your transactions in cash, as you will have already established the rate of exchange, when you bought the euros in the first place.
