Holidaymakers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining in Murcia, with several top-class eateries located at La Manga Club, as well as dozens of restaurants in the surrounding area, offering delicious fresh produce.
The quality of seafood on offer in the region is second to none and holidaymakers will find tasty Mar Menor prawns, as well as grey mullet roe and delicious grilled pilchards.
Traditionally Spaniards enjoy their main meal at midday and enjoy a light meal late at night, typically between 9pm and midnight.
Holidaymakers will find fresh local produce on offer in most good restaurants, as well as locally produced fine wines, which include Jumilla and Yecla.
A holiday in Spain is not complete without trying some tasty traditional tapas dishes and these are available in most bars and restaurants. Designed to be served as a snack, it is thought that tapas originated from barmen covering drinks with a small plate to protect from flies. Some of the most popular tapas dishes include patatas bravas, patatas alioli, gazpacho and jamon.
Meanwhile, some of the dishes traditionally associated with the Murcia region of Spain include zarangollo, which is a tasty combination of ratatouille and omelette. Another popular dish is the ensalada murciana, which is a salad tossed with garlic, tomatoes, aubergine, red peppers and onions. Occasionally served with fish, the ensalada murciana is on offer at most tapas bars in the area.
Another of the region's speciality is the huevas de mujol a caviar produced in the Mar Menor area and is available in local restaurants and supermarkets.
Those holidaying at La Manga Club will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. The resort boasts more than 20 restaurants and guests will find a range of international cuisine, as well as local dishes on offer. Whether you want to have lunch al fresco, or dinner under the stars, La Manga Club can cater to your every need.
La Manga's flagship restaurant Amapola is a must-visit for guests keen to sample some of the finest regional produce, including seafood from the Mar Menor. The restaurant was recently re-launched and offers a mouth-watering menu, featuring everything from ox meat from the Sierra de Guardarrama to cured cheese from Zamora, Murcian cheese with wine and Sobrasada from Mallorca.
Amapola prides itself on respecting the natural seasonally of food and, under the leadership of renowned chef Nicholas Cedro, dishes are prepared in a way that enhances their flavour and quality.
Speaking last year, Mr Cedro explained: "Our new menu is extremely exciting. We have sourced the best regional produce and ingredients in the country to develop a gastronomic experience rooted in Spain's traditional delicacies. "The menu will be based on seasonal ingredients, meaning that customers can experience an authentic taste of Spain all year round."
As well as Amapola, La Manga is home to several other top-quality eateries, which include the Andale Mexican Restaurant, where guests can enjoy speciality dishes in a lively environment and La Bodega, which served up a fine selection of Spanish tapas dishes and locally produced wines.
Others include El Bistro, La Cala and Uncle Sam's, where holidaymakers will find an all-American style menu.
