Cost is a big factor when considering whether to hire a car or to grab a taxi when you are visiting La Manga Club, as there are two airports that guests can fly into, namely Murcia Airport and Alicante Airport. Murcia Airport is 20 minutes away and Alicante Airport is about 60 minutes away.
If you are flying into Alicante Airport we would definitely recommend a car hire, as the cost of a return taxi transfer will probable cost more than a weekly car hire from Alicante Airport. If you are travelling for 2 weeks, then many clients will consider picking up a car hire from the airport for a period of 3 days, then dropping it at La Manga Club and doing the same and the other end of the holiday. Pick up the car hire from La Manga Club, 3 days before the end of the holiday and returning the vehicle to Alicante Airport.
If you manage to get flights into Murcia Airport, then the main consideration will be the length of your holiday at La Manga Club and whether you think you will use the car when you are at the Club. A car is not essential, unless you are staying in one of the outlining communities, or one of the villas with private swimming pools on the outskirts of La Manga Club.
Many of the communities at La Manga are within walking distance of all of the facilities and a car is not required. However to reach the beach at La Manga Club a car is required. The best beaches are located slightly further down the coast and a car will be required to reach these. If you still do not wish to hire a car, taxis can be arranged on site and are reasonably priced.
A great way to get around and if you feel energetic, a bike hire should be considered. The activity centre which is located on La Manga Club has a good range of bike hire for all levels, including quality mountain and trail bikes. Children’s bikes and helmets can also be hired from the activity centre.
The cost of a car hire from Murcia Airport for a week, will probably cost about the same as a return taxi transfer. Bear in mind that taxis will only take up to a maximum of 4 people, including children. If there are more than 4 people you will need to consider a mini bus transfer, which will cost twice that of a regular taxi transfer. Mini bus transfer from Murcia Airport and Alicante Airport will need to be booked in advance, as the taxi ranks only include regular saloon cars.
If you do decide to hire a car from Murcia Airport or Alicante Airport, then please consider the terms and conditions carefully and ensure you rent a car where you collect the car with a full tank of petrol and have to return it full, as many people do not take this into account when arranging their car hire.
