A Walking Tour of Murcia

When visiting Murcia, walking tours are a very popular attraction to tourists as everything of interest is within walking distance. There are many different walking routes within Murcia and each and every one has beautiful historical buildings and a great deal of culture on the way. Along some of the walking routes, you will visit some of Murcias most historic places, such as the Cathedral de Santa Marķa which is known as Murcia s most important monument and the Plaza de Santo Domingo which houses the handsome twin-towered church of Santo Domingo.

Common routes through Murcia can take you to some of the most stunning architectural buildings, showing tourists from all over the charms of Murcia. Murcia has an overwhelming array of museums, art galleries and centres and beautiful historic buildings, so if it is culture that you crave you will certainly enjoy your time here. Most people start off at the tourist office so you can find out more information about the museums, cathedral and buildings, as well as the walking routes.

If shopping is more to your taste, then Murcia can also cater for this with many boutique style shops as well as the usual collection of well known high street names in the centre plus the out of town shopping centres called the Nueva Condomina, Thader and a massive Ikea.

If you want to get involved in some of the local sport, you can go to Murcia football Stadium and watch Murcia's Football play their home matches. The Spanish are very passionate about football, just like all other European nations, so it is easy to enjoy yourself and the atmosphere. Just next door is also La Condomina which is Murcia's very own Bull ring.

If you just want to relax, then relax with a coffee in the square to admire the impressive Cathedral before spending some time wandering around inside it. Visit some of Murcias many museums, art galleries and churches whilst they are open in the morning, the Casino museum is always a firm favourite. Enjoy lunch and sample some typical Murcian food and then during the afternoon take a stroll beside the river Segura and relax in the botanical garden.

There are many companies around Murcia who do offer guided tours of in and around the City which some people may prefer if they are unfamiliar with the surrounding areas but this will obviously come with a charge, so why not go to local tourist office, find some maps of the town and get on your way to finding some of the most picturesque buildings in Murcia.
