Water Sports at La Manga

La Manga Club is in an excellent location for water sports, being situated between two seas. A world of water-based sports activities await you, just 10 minutes drive from La Manga Club.

The Mar Menor is Europe’s largest salt water lagoon and covers an area of approximately 170 square kilometres. The water is on average some 6 degrees warmer than elsewhere in the Mediterranean and its unique location, together with the superb weather and thermal winds mean that La Manga Club is an ideal setting for sailing, windsurfing and water sports holidays.

Sailing and windsurfing

Courses are available in dinghy sailing and windsurfing through schools which are located nearby, for those who would like the chance to learn to sail while on holiday. Gentle water and soft winds make the Mar Menor a safe environment for learning and practising and on days when the wind picks up, more experienced sailors are provided with a challenge, without having the risks of the open sea.

Dinghies and boards are available for hire, along with wetsuits.

Scuba-diving

Courses are available for all levels of expertise, whether you are a beginner or a qualified diver. If you have never dived previously, you can take the PADI Open Water course, which runs for approximately 4 days and leads to the Open Water Certification. Anyone just wanting to have a taste of what diving is all about can join the Discover Scuba Diving course, which takes place in the pool and also the sea and lasts for just 3 – 4 hours, or the Discover Scuba, which is in the pool only. All of these can be enjoyed by anyone from the age of 12 years onwards. A further course is available for children from 8 to 12 years, so nobody is left out.

Experienced divers can continue their instruction in a wide range of PADI courses and can also arrange a guided dive.

Other water sports and boat excursions

If you fancy hiring a boat, there is a wide range of craft to choose from, with or without a skipper, such as powerboats, kayaks and catamarans. There are also a few organised trips to the islands in the Mar Menor, or you may fancy a fun ride on a banana boat.

How to book Water Sports

All the water sports and water related activities can be arranged through the Activity Centre at the Club. For further information about any of the above, please contact them directly.
