I’d suggest a visit to the local town of Carmona it is only 33 kilometers away. The beautiful picturesque town looks like it was built to feature on postcards it also has very impressive fortifications left over from the Carthaginian and Roman rule. The Roman town walls, Necropolis and Alcazar palace still survive today, but most of the town you can see today was built by the moors.
Visitors to the city should not leave without taking a trip to see the nearby Alcazar at the Plaza del Triunfo. This beautiful palace has been a fixture of Seville since 913AD, as well as being home to a large number of rulers of both the region and Spain over the years. The remarkable beauty of the building is matched only by the stories connected with the place, including those concerning Pedro I, who built the Alcazar's crowning glory, the Mudejar Palacio de Don Pedro.
Make sure during your stay you put your hire car to good use and visit Cadiz, located close to Seville it’s a popular destination with cruise ships. Cadiz sticks out on a peninsular into the Cadiz bay it’s thought to be one of the oldest ports in Europe.
Some of the city's 18th century walls still stand, such as the Landward Gate. The old, central quarter of Cadiz is famous for its picturesque charm, and many of the buildings reflect the city's overseas links. Worth a visit are the city's Cathedral and churches of Santa Cruz and San Felipe Neri, which is famous throughout Spain as the place where, in defiance of Napoleon's siege, the provisional government was set up with its own liberal Constitution. Other points of interest are La Santa Cueva, home to several paintings by Goya, and stately mansions such as the Casa del Almirante and Casa de las Cadenas.
