Ford car hire in the 90’s sold a huge number of cars in the booming economy with the high stock market and cheap fuel prices at the time. However now with faltering economy and higher fuel prices of today, it resulted in falling market shares as well as declining car sales. Due to these issues, the sales of Ford car hire minivans suffered the most. Ford now design and develop hydride electrical technologies for the future with the Ford Escape Hybrid SUV being a concept dreamed up for the future using such ideas.
Ford plan to team up with an electrical supplier in the states known as Southern California Edison to extend research in to the idea of plug in cars to see what the impact would on the electrical grid. They plan on converting a selection of Ford Escape Hybrid SUV’s into plug in cars that could be sold to the public.
Ford car hire has begun to focus on smaller cars now that are more fuel efficient with new models all over the world including North America and Europe. Ford car hire is set to release new versions of the Fiesta as well as putting into production their new fuel efficient EcoBoost V6 and 4 cylinder engines.
The ECOnetic Ford car hire Fiesta is a version of the Fiesta that has more aerodynamic styling, lowered suspensions, low friction oil, diesel engine of which is turbo charged. It does up to 77 mile per gallon. The standard diesel version only achieve 52 mile per gallon so there is a vast improvement in the new hybrid car.
Ford have a wide range of sports cars in their history with the most famous being the GT40. Early versions of this car won the 24 hours of Le Mans race four times in the 60’s making it the only ever American sports car to win at Le Mans. Another American icon is the Ford Mustang. This was and still is the most successful sport car produced by Ford car hire.
In 2005 the Ford Mustang FR500C won the championship in the Rolex Koni Challenge series in its first year. In 2007 they entered the GT4 European Championship and came out on top, and in 2008 the Mustang entered the Miller Cup of which is a new series where a host of identical factory build mustang race cars go up against each other.
Other car models that are popular in and around Europe include the Mondeo, the Ka, the Fiesta and the Focus. Around the world there is the Tautus, the Falcon and even a version of the escort. |
