Despite being sold. Enzo Ferrari still had control of the racing side of Ferrari right up until 1988 where he passed away at the age of 90 years old.
Before Enzo Ferrari’s death in 1988 the Ferrari F40 was launched and it is held as the one of the most, if not the most famous super car to have been put into production. The Ferrari F40 was released at a retail prise of £282,538 where as the press have reported that there were buyers paying up to $1.6 million. The Ferrari car hire F40 is a rear wheel drive coupe sports car with mid engine placement. It was in production from 1987 to 1992 and between its launch and 1989 was the fastest street legal production car. During the 5 years it was in production it was the most powerful and the most expensive car to produce, as well as the fastest of course.
The F40 only weighed in at 1100kg and with power of approximately 500bhp (depending on the country) this car was (and still is) fast!
